dajogejr
Man...I still smell electrical....ya know? Make sure a rodent/insect/etc. didn't crawl into your airbox or exhaust or something stupid like that...will ya. If it did...send a picture.... 2stroker4ever
Where..exactly, are all the electrical connections I should be checking? I checked the connection coming into the throttle case on the bars, sprayed it down with a boat load of contact cleaner. I dont have a parking break anymore, or stock clutch perch. What other wires/connections should I check?
dajogejr
Do a search on TORS here....it'll be easier than a large write up at this point...
2stroker4ever
Well, I went and got some 27.5, and 30 pilot jets today, to try and put in. But when I got home and went to put em in, I tore it all apart, and the damn jets were WAAY bigger than my pilot, they wouldn't even fit in the whole. Looked like they weren't even for a banshee/stock carb/whatever.. So I'm gonna go to a different place tomorrow I guess and see if they have any... I sure hope this fixes the problem... I'm hoping to go to Silver Lake Dunes soon, and need it to run right.
dajogejr
Yes, Banshee's pilot jets are different than most for stock carbs. Best to take those out to match up. badassbanshee479 is sending me back my jets for stock carbs. When I get them back, I'll let you know what jets I have. I gotta jet some bud's bikes coming up soon, but I have a ton of jets. Where exactly in MI are you located?
2stroker4ever
About 15miles north of Kalamazoo. In the SW'ern portion. I live in a town called Delton.
dajogejr
No shit...was just that way yesterday. Had to go to South Haven for a store visit. Took 94 there, and 96 back (that was a mistake... ) If you order pilots from Magic Racing, you'll have 'em next day, as long as you order by 5 PM or so. You'll pay about 6 bucks for shipping, and tax. But, it's better than waiting for the dealer to get them in stock...or waiting for them!! 2stroker4ever
Well, I went to the other shop today, they didn't have what I needed in stock either, and couldn't get it till monday... So I guess if I order some from Magic tomorrow I wont have them till monday at the earliest either. God I hope this solves my problems. Knowing my luck it will end up being something $$$$. Don't understand how you can park something with it being perfect, and 2days later it not work. lol so frustrating.
dajogejr
Try dumping 3 to 4G's into a cub motor, and not being able to ride it for more than 20 minutes. That'll put a burr in your saddle...
SpecialEd 05
My friend had this problem a few weeks ago. Ended up being one of the switches on the top of the carbs wasn't closing the circuit in the idle position. Fixed it by attaching a scotch clip (if that's what you call them over there, you know the double joiner thingy to tap one wire into another) anyway clipped it to the wires on the faulty carb. There are two pairs of yellow and black I think, one pair to each carb. A bit dodgy but it worked and he doesn't care anyway.
dajogejr
Personally...even if you don't get the TORS removal kit right away, I'd disconnect all the wiring to eliminate that concern...
2stroker4ever
Can you tell me what wires to disconnect.. cuz I dont want to just go disconnecting stuff I actually need. lol! Or point in to a link that shows. Also, would disconnecting the wires--I take it, that would effectively eliminate the TORS, the only difference would be I'd still have the carb tops? Also, I think my carbs are a little out-of-sink, could I have done this by turning the idle adjusters ontop of the TORS?? Maybe they're not in the same position? When I take off, it feels like one cylinder is getting more gas sooner than the other or something. I think maybe the slides just aren't going up at the same rates, but whats the best way to even them up?
dajogejr
Man...pack them questions in... J/K... Search for the TORS unplugging, here's the cliff notes. Unplug the black box underneath the tank, in front of the fuel valve. Unplug the wires going into the top of each carb. Unplug the wires at the thumb throttle and the parking brake block off. From the Ignition, you may have to cross the wires going from the TORS to the on/off headlight switch...models vary. You can either eyeball the slides and use the adjusters on top the carbs...or, get a syncrometer tool. Jeff @ FAST sells them, they are priceless. Or...you can ebay for them. 2stroker4ever
Just a little update.. I'm just waitin for an order I put with Magic for some jets, and some other things to get here sometime the first half of this week. Other than that, I've just been riding it like it is the last 2 days... runs perfect just doesnt idle. When you start it up, all you gotta do is just BARELY hold the throttle, probly moving the throttle 1-2mm will make it idle perfect.. but if u let go of the gas, its dead. Anyway, I'll update this again when I get the 27.5 jet's, and see how it goes.
HOLY SHEE-IT
i had that problem a while back.....tried everything.....rejetting, new plugs, etc....suddenly the powerband was not as responsive as normal, and it was harder to start. i ended up bringing it to a shop.....the problem was a crack in the carb joint (that i overlooked) led to a lean fuel/air mixture and toasting the piston rings to where the compression dropped to under 100 on one cylinder and 125 on the other. this may not be your problem, but mine all started because of that symptom....it wouldn't idle.
