flipcarre
Well, i can't remember when i heard this, but it was like this heat rap that you would rap around your muffler, and it would keep the heat it and improve overall performance.. any of you heard of this? Bansheekidd97
ive heard of haeder wrap for headers on cars, suppose to reduce under hood temps. they sell it at like jegs and summit.
Shee-Male
It's a high temp fiberglass weave approx 1" wide. They use it for headers sometimes and its available at any performance or speed shop. I't will however hold moisture and in some cases rot the pipe, in real high heat applications with the wrap on you get something called hydrogen enbridlement, and when you take off the wrap you can actually crush the pipe in your hand. Food for thought.

dajogejr
I just got some exaust heat shields from Cascade, but they're for the stinger tubes so they don't melt stuffed in air filters and outerwears... Some cars will wrap the headers to keep less heat in the Engine compartment...but wrapping a muffler on a two stroke won't do squat. If you wrap the pipe, maybe...probably not though... I've heard ceramic coating helps...but, I have no dyno sheets or otherwise to confirm that.
racer
im thining about wrapping the head pipe on my 50. i typically get drunk, start it up, lay it over and burn myself. maybe this will prevent the burns?

dajogejr
Be sure and zip tie them in place. Cost me an outerwear to find out I should of done that. Yep...was planning on that. So...how do they work? I know the outerwears and K&Ns are going to be touching both...bottom line, do they do what they should??

I know the outerwears and K&Ns are going to be touching both...bottom line, do they do what they should?? They work excellent. I got rid of them after a while cause the silver finish was flaking off and they started to look like crap. I'm just an attention to detail freak (makes life harder) so I used some regular heat wrap and some hose clamps. It works well too.
dajogejr
Thanks...Brad. Sorry to "jack" this thread... Just worried about getting mine running at this point...or running right I should say. Brad...if I had your ride, I'd be an attention detail freak too...that bike is the shit!
