swag
anybody know of any links to torque specs for an 03 banshee??? I just got my banshee and tore it down to check the condition of everything and have lost the book that came with it. As you probably all know these things are braindead simple but i would like to get the case halves, jugs and head torqued right. Also it has a cool head on it. Does anyone know if the torque is the same for o-ringed as it is for gaskets? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
dajogejr
20 to 22 Ft Lbs for the jugs and the head. Just make sure you torque them down in sequence... As far as the case bolt...not sure. I just gave 'em two grunts, then an extra 1/4 turn...
bansheeseat$$
Torque the head bolts in sequence and do it multible times.Head bolts are 20 ft.-lb.upper case bolts are 7.4 ft.-lb. lower case bolts are 18 ft.-lb.
dajogejr
Yeah, I usually do mine head bolts in sequence, start at 20, then 21, then 22 all the way around. Warm it up...let it cool down, and check 'em again.

Also , i assume that the numbers cast into the case halves are the torque sequence for the case? Does anyone know if high quality rtv sealer is ok for the case halves? I am an auto tech at a gm dealer and we have some wicked stuff alot better than that old three bond stuff.
dajogejr
Ask and you shall receive... I use Yamabond on the cases...hi temp RTV should be fine. Just a thin layer, and I'd let it setup for 15 minutes before assembling them.
baddboyy21
I would torque the head bolts 10lbs then 15lbs, then 20lbs. Definitely tighten in the correct sequence or you risk warping the head.
