kawiking
just got my 98 project bike built back from ground up, (never buy a banshee that comes with a empty frame and alot of boxes with pieces in them) today was my first time riding it. for just haveing the head shaved(.030) ,timing plate, reed cage shaved, fly wheel lightend and a swing arm that little puppy will RUN..... the thottle is sticking bad, about 1/2 throttle it will stick. it did it a couple of time and i just worked it out with the throttle. it got worse and then it stuck on me and i couldnt work it out. i had to shut it off , then when i kick started it it was still stuck. i finally got it running and i went and put it back on the trailer. my buddy sayed it could have to do with the slides sticking. has anyone else had this problem? thanks for the help! :shoothead:
EastCoast Banshee
It is a common problem if you let gas or anything sit in your carbs for a long time. Saying they sat in a box full of parts for awile this is likely your problem. Just tear them down and clean the hell out of them. That should do the trick. good luck man :thumb:
pipebomb
yeah definitely clean them carbs( and if they look clean, clean um again for good measure) and check the routing of the cable. might have a tight bend that's causeing it to hang up. to lube it, I'd use Dri-slide(used it for years myself) it's "A versatile penetrating formula of Technical Fine grade Molybdenum disulfide (Moly) and Graphite with rust and corrosion inhibitors. bansheeseat$$
Also make sure the slide holes on top of your slides are not covered by the throttle cable stay and asuming your runing motion pro tops that you didn't tighten them to tight as this will also cause sticking throttle.MY .02 cents  Edited July 2, 2006 by bansheeseat$$

On the stockers, snug them up good by hand, no need to tighten them with channel locks. Then, lock them down with the factory hold downs. I've had the stockers stick wide open, I loosed the top 1/16 or so a turn and the slide snapped shut.
Shee-Male
If they are stock carbs get used to it, common problem, I fixed mine by buying Keihin carbs, more money but alot less bumps and briuses.
wesw
also you can take scrotch brite or emery paper and on the slide there are small casting flaws you can clean them up and it will help it slide down.
