bigboybanshee
:yelrotflmao: I know some people that thought the same thing as you until they tried drag racing competitively. I can vouch for that as well. My buddy came out with me last week and couldn't turn a consistent time for shit. His times had a range from 7.53-7.90. He couldn't make two passes the same, or within a couple hundredths of a second. There's a lot more to it than just hopping on and letting it rip. Setup/rider/track conditions, etc. Just because the asphalt is flat and straight doesn't mean it doesn't change. Temperature of the track makes a big difference with traction. Some nights it'll hook well off the line and other nights it lights the tires up through second gear. Then we have the tree. It's damn near impossible to get a perfect light every time....and in bracket racing, every hundredth of a second makes a big difference. It's a hell of a lot easier to race someone at the dunes when you have no finish line and a guy/girl throwing their arm down to get the race started. Try racing the clock and you'll change your mind, guaranteed. You'll realize how much "skill" comes to play in this part of the sport. warwgn
once again I say as long as your riding it's all good, it's not what type of racing you do it's that you show some sportsmanship and not cry and whine and bitch and moan like babies. That is what the main thing I am getting at is, if it's all old farts dragracing why do we see so many acting like little kids?? Good natured ribbing is one thing but out right crying and bitching is stupid!! And for the record old farts can do other things besides drag, I'm 34 and there are older people desert racing that I cant catch!!

Hey, I'm no old fart...I just got a bad back and knees  I've popped my knee out of place 2 out of the last 5 times I went riding on my 450. That shit sucks!!! I do agree with the whining/moaning/crying though....it's ridiculous. I'm out there to have fun, I could care less if I win. As long as I have a safe night and get to go home to my family, I'm ecstatic. I just didn't agree with the "less skill" part.
Bansh88
Who really gives a sh!t?????? It's fun for about 3 min then it gets old and boring. I have beat people and people have beat me. What does it really say about anything?? It takes ALMOST no skill to do and can be learned very quickly, and if you got a lot of money you can be the fastest around. So what if you have a bunch of money, that dont say sh!t about your skill as a rider. I hear ya! I can drag for a few runs and the the repetition kicks in. BORING! Then again, I have all of Glamis to ride. You hicks have a couple bits of farm to ride on. I guess it's the same as the monkey trapped in a box that just keeps rocking back and forth. dajogejr
That's a good point, BigBoy.... I was talking more about a little casual drag racing in dunes and street. When you start getting into bracket racing and more competitive against a breakout time like you are....that is a very, very good point and well taken. Not trying to take anything away from you...at all! It most definately takes less conditioning than trail/track/jumping...than skill. Point well taken from all. My good buddy is building a big bore stroker TRX...probably be in the neighborhood of 65HP or so. Of course, he hasn't ordered the parts, I haven't got my cub running right yet...but that doesn't stop the endless shit talking between us...all in fun. dawarriorman
I've seen more whining, crying and bitching at oval dirt car tracks than any kind of drag race, whether it be quad, bike, or whatever. The whining and crying is human nature, we don't want to admit something is our fault, we want it to be somebody/something elses fault. You want a good example of a non drag racer whining (not really whining, but still, just look) http://www.atvscene.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=7575. As far as drag racing not taking any skill, thats usually what the people that always lose say to try and justify their shortcomings Edited June 29, 2006 by dawarriorman
bigboybanshee
You hicks have a couple bits of farm to ride on. Hick? Sure buddy :yelrotflmao: So because you live in Cali, I can assume you're a tree hugger? :shoothead: You should keep the stereotypical comments to yourself Not trying to take anything away from you...at all! None taken!
Animalman294
Tree hugger?, hell I'd rather hug a keg. You're complaining about the cryin' and bitchin' it sounds to me like there is more of that in this thread than I have ever heard at the dunes, and ironically it is from the thread starter :yelrotflmao:
bigboybanshee
Tree hugger?, hell I'd rather hug a keg. LOL, I was using it as a figure of speech. I don't honestly believe californians are tree huggers :yelrotflmao: Just wanted to clear that up
Hilarious
You hit the nail right on the head.. I had one assclown call me out to race, lined up with looked at the rezzie from my rear elka , then had the nerve to back down... Clams I was running noss :yelrotflmao: :yelrotflmao: :yelrotflmao: That's funny. I had some kids in a Z71 p/u stop and wanna race me. I said sure. When they caught up to me they asked me if I was running alcohol. And they looked at me funny when I said "yes and the bike uses regular pump gas." You hicks have a couple bits of farm to ride on. Hey, I resemble that remark. :baseball_getlost: No need to call anyone out on it. Edited June 29, 2006 by Hilarious
