TORS removal question..

okay, so i bought a trinity 2into1 carb for my shee because i wanted to get rid of the TORS. and as you guys know, the TORS unplug right past the stock carbs. but if you are to disconnect the TORS on the stock carbs, it won't start, at least mine wont...with this not in mind, i installed the trinity carb kit, thinking it would just work magically with it unplugged, which it doesnt. it just wont start, and i am assuming its the TORS.so what do i need to do to the TORS for my quad to start? or maybe it isnt the TORS doing this? what else could it be? i really could use the help fast. my buddy is coming up from 4hrs away first thing in the morning and it would suck not to be able to ride with him...

please help!

#1. disconnect the plug to the TORS box( little box next to the coil, can be also removed at that time)

#2. disconnect the P-brake and Throttle switches( follow the wires down to the connector on each)

#3. Disconnect both carb cap wires.

#4. tape up all the open connectors( I pack them w/ dilectric grease too, Keeps the contacts clean)

you should be good to go then. some people talk about splicing wires together, but I haven't had to yet by doing the above.

that's the way I did it on my '01 (da blue one) and have run it like that for 2 years now. put a Motofast 2 into 1 intake on it and missed the connector for the P-brake. it would run, but bog right off to nothing as soon as you hit the gas( off idle right to WOT). put all the stock stuff back in and did the same thing til I traced the wires and found the wire to the P-brake switch was still connected(Doh!). unhooked it and (snap) fired right up and ran like a champ.

yup. I actually pulled the switch out of the Clutch/ P-brake perch too since it wasen't doing anything and I had already gutted all the P-brake hardware anyway. I just left the wires and switch in the throttle housing til I break down and buy a replacement from TerryCable or Cascade or where ever to eliminate it properly( too cheap, but I'll drop 700 bucks to buy powdercoating equip. to start doing all my own crap myself, go figure sad_shakehead2.gif) just make sure you tape up the connectors real good. you can always go back in later and hack all the useless wires out at a later time.

On mine, 96, I didn't have to splice and connect. On my bud's 98, I did. On my other buddies 2001, I did as well.

Do yourself a favor ...get an easy pull clutch lever and perch. Get rid of that parking brake cable and get a block off plate. Cleans up the look and makes the pull easier on ya...

The lever, perch and block off plate can be had for under 60 bucks or so...

i have all that. thanks though...

give me some info on the splicing please..

also, the 2 connectors that come off the TORS(carb tops) themselves, does anything have to be done with them? or do you just unplug them and thats it? or does this have something to do with the splicing?

mines a 2000...so i might as well splice ot save myself time and mizery :)
