Geoff
Ok, i had my bike running good and I put on some new pipes and got a boss intake. I had to rerun my throttle cable since the intake pushed the carbs back so far and it was binding the cable. I then readjusted my slides and now every once in awhile it hangs up but not completely wound out. I went riding last weekend and it happened like 3 times in 6-7hrs of riding. Is there something I can lube the thottle cable with and maybe thats it. Or is the slide possibly hanging up in the cap? I thought I knew how to adjust the slides but maybe I don't, so feel free to tell me how you do it so I can rule something out. Thanks Geoff
Dinner
Have you tried changing the cable positions around on your bike. After i tore my bike all down and put it back together i had the cable set up differently. So if i turned to sharp it would bull the slides and rev up. So i just took the gas tank off, etc and found the best place for it, little bits of fiddling :thumb:

Put the tank back on, DON'T bolt it down, and start it up. Let it warm up...turn the bars lock to lock...and make sure it doesn't rev up. Make sure there is a little slack in the cable, too. If you haven't had the carbs apart in a while, might not be a bad time to tear 'em down and give them a good, thougough cleaning as well. Animalman294
I would try lubin' the shit out of the cable and just make sure it is going in the straightest route possible............
dajogejr
And make sure you use a non-gummy type oil for it. 3 in 1, WD 40, liquid wrench all work fine for lubing cables. Don't use gear oil, motor oil, air filter oil, etc....They make cable lubers, or...you could just get a piece of paper, make a small funnel and take it slow and easy...till it comes out the other end of the cable... Geoff
I try spraying some WD down the cable but it's kinda a tedious process. The throttle cable was way to tight once I put on the intake so I reran it and that solved it hanging up and pinning the throttle wide open. I can open it up all the way and it wont stick and riding it almost never does but I don't want it to stick on a tree shot that could be bad news for me. I guess I'll fiddle with it and see what happens. dajogejr, have you ran your bike since you put the noligy coil on? If so hows it run? Thanks for your guys's help Geoff
dajogejr
Haa...I've barely ran it since I put my cub in. I've run out of time...and it's too damn hot, to fix it. Going with a Dyna and new Stator from RS next week. It's either electrical, or an air leak. Since my CDI box and Stator are both 10years old, and in a little rough shape...I'm going that route first... Then, I'll leak down test it anyways... At least the motor, new carbs and coil w/ hotwires look good sitting in my garage...
Geoff
That sucks you haven't got to work out the gremlins yet. Probably jonesin quite a bit to ride it. Hopefully you get it fixed soon so you can enjoy the summer.
dajogejr
It's a whole 'nother story.... But, the nice thing is...I'm buying what I want for it...if it fixes it...great, if it doesn't...so what, i wanted it anyways.... Yeah, seeing it pull the #'s it did on a dyno...and ride it for a very brief period of time before it acted up...it was fun as hell... When you go from 45 HP to 85...it's like a rocket strapped to your a$$!!!
