Possible Clutch problem

Recommended Posts

I put in a new clutch kit last year (Duncan) and swaped out the stock perch for a cheap aftermarket perch and ever since I did this my banshee now wants to creep forward while I pull the clutch in and rev it up. So I dont think my clutch is disengageing all the way. I switched back to my barnett plates and it still did it. I called Duncan and they think it was my perch. The perch I was using was a cheap Magnum universal perch and lever. I was just wondering if anyone else had this problem? I double checked every adjustment and the clutch arm lines up with the arrow on the case. The clutch cable is a little old (99') but it is well lubed and free. Any Idea's??

The screw on the middle of the clutch, try to tighten that a little bit more. Mine has always been this way, with the old clutch and I just put in a new one. I lined everythign up (arrows) and to get it fully engaged, I had to have my cable almost all the way out (new cable). I just gave the screw another turn and it is fine. I have plently of adjustment nwo in my cable.

I normally use 75wt Bel-ray gear saver, but I switched back to 10w30(yamalube) when I started having the problem with the clutch. Its a brand new hinson basket, brand new inner hub, brand new clutch cable. I put the stock clutch perch back on. I adjusted the adjuster nut on the clutch so the arm was a little infront of the arrow on the case and I set it so it was behind the arrow and I set it to spec and no matter what it keeps doing it. But if I take out all of the free play out on the clutch lever and then turn it a extra 1/4" inch or so it stops crawling. But the clutch was strung so tight i'm not about to leave it there. Its almost like i'm not getting enough pull on the lever. any other ideas? I already checked the push rod and ball there both fine.

pull out the push lever assembly(where your cable hooks at the engine) and see if it's worn where the rod rides on it. here's a pic of one from my nephew's blaster when he had clutch problems.
