helldriver
hell if you wanna spend enough money, you can get a 300ex to beat a banshee but normally a banshee will win
shanYE west
one mod that he had done was take a crank out of a yamaha 450WR motorcycle to make it some what of a stroker.........dont know how much stroke in MM it was but it was freggn fast!!!!!!!!.............:thumb: It up the displacement to 449cc from the stock 439cc. The 06' models use the 63.4mm stroke crank now
jeepman380
Yeah I've seen the Ron Woods but they are kinda ugly and way to big in my opinion. I know they are a great top end pipe but i'm not really looking for that all out top end for my 450...that's what I got the banshee for. I'm thinking Sparks big core, cam mod, filter kit with maybe a velocity tube or just might keep the stock air box with the lid removed. I'm not really looking for a big bore or anything to extreme. I haven't even got the motor broken in yet but the more I open her up she really wants to scream. I'm pretty impressed with it. I really like the low end that it has. But I have noticed that it has a slight bog right off idle when you mash it. Alot of people have this problem too. Anyone else? Does the pipe and filter get rid of that? Thanks for all your replies guys!

Thanks for all your replies guys! I still got it. Its a problem with the FCR carb and the accelerator pump, Boyessen makes a quick shot pump thats supposed to cure it. Its never really bothered me much so I havn't spent the extra 80 bucks for it yet. The sparks exhaust is top notch, you'll be happy

It is amazing what a 2mm longer stroke and a 2mm larger bore will do for the older 450s

shanYE west
That center mount looks sweet... I dont think they'll let me in the dunes out here with it. I had trouble passing the sound check with my Duncan exhaust. and its looks like it would be hard to add a spark arrestor. They dont want us to catch the sand and driftwood on fire. dajogejr
I'd personally like to see that banshee behind it with an R1 or R6 motor in it run...
BB3
If it where my bike i would go with a GP pipe or a nmontion pipe, and i would buy a wood's intake. Like alot of people said just do the cam mod it's free and it does gain a couple hp over the stock timing on the cam's. I my self run the wood's pipe and wood's intake, I have web cam's and the head ported by Jeff from F.A.S.T racing and that thing run's pretty good, imo...even though it is a 4 stroke .... It's your decison either way go with what you want ever you want to run. But what ever intake and pipe you get i would highly recomend doing the cammod. Also if you need any info on how to do it pm me... Later Bobby

Thanks for all your replies guys! I'm running a trinity pipe, cam mod, and K&N pro flow kit with an open airbox. I've been thinking of switching pipes to something a little better for trail riding...the trinity is not bad at all, I just think I can find something better for the type of riding I do...I really like the power I gained with the pipe and filter, it feels more torquey than anything. The cam mod did not add much power if anything at all, but what it did do was smooth out the powerband and took away the "peaky" feel the 450's have when stock. It seems like it starts easier too. Also, if I'm not mistaken, from the factory, the exhaust cam is advanced one tooth more than the YZ450 (dirtbike), and the cam mod on the YFZ450 is retarding that exhaust cam one tooth. There are detailed instructions on www.yfzcentral.com about how to do the mod. Oh yeah, and the bog off idle can be fixed by changing your leak jet from what I've read. It's a common problem and I still have it on mine....you can make it better by tweaking the pilot jet and fuel screw. I really don't even notice it much anymore  After you buy the bike, check yfzcentral for the "known" problems on the 06's. There are a few little things you'll want to pay attention to on those new 450's.
