Yamaha
OK, I asked once and forgot to include what pipes I have so here are my mods, Toomey T-5's, Bored .040 over, Milled .020 thousandths, Carbon Fiber Boyseen Rad Valves and Reed Cages, Boost Bottle, No Airbox-individual 3x4 inch pod filters on stock carbs, no tors. Elevation is 370 ft -Temps are 80 to 90 degrees. Where should I start with the jetting? Also a new top-end so should use my usual 40:1 ratio or should I use around 24:1 for the first tank? dajogejr
40 to 1 is fine for the ratio...but opinions will vary... Some will say mix it richer, some will say the same as you plan on running it. Some will say take it easy, I'll tell you to heat cycle it twice and beat the shit out of it...again, it varies. Try a 340 Main jet, needle on the 3rd clip from top (stock needle, 5 grooves) and stock pilot at 1.5 turns out on the air screws. You may have to go up or down one on the main, or bump the needle one leaner (towards the blunt end)... Look at your plugs...see what they say. That is ballpark jetting that should get you running pretty good...
