00ultraz28
I'm takin tha banshee for its first run at the track... its an asphault track and i'll have it strapped down with a 16 tooth front sprocket... I also have fmf gold series ,+ 4 timing, intake, and wiseco pistons. I'm just wondering how bad its gonna want to come up in first. Will i be able to pop off the clutch or will I have to do alot of feathering to keep it from standing up bad?

00ultraz28
its a quarter track and i have the stock tooth out back... what gearing would i need to run the full quarter without running out of gear
00ultraz28
I've been hearing now i should leave in 2nd on the gas and just pop off the clutch. I guess I'll just have to try both approaches and see what works the best

I guess I'll just have to try both approaches and see what works the best since im guessing you still have the stock axle. for the 1/4 mile you should run 19-37 or 18-37. Thats just my

scuba147
I start out in first gear on pavement-dump the clutch and sit as close as possible to the tank. Do it a few times and you will get use to it.
00ultraz28
Yeah I think the guy that was telling me I could start in second was full of himself.... I'm just gonna have to strap the front down and play with it a few times before I go to the track friday. Right now i'm not really too concerned with how it does as far as being geared to run a full quarter. I'll worry about that when i get another one to ride and turn this one into a full drag bike
snowprophet1
I put a set of yamaha srx snowmobile shocks on the front of mine, and chained them down lower yet. I used an R6 crotch rocket rear shock (slight modifications) for a nice low and effective suspension for dirt drags/asphault. I have a 16 tooth front and stock rear sprocket for the 1/4 mile, but I am running 22" holeshots. Tire size will make a big difference in gearing. I am laying on the front, wide open holeshots in first gear. Very addictive!!!

locogato11283
unless you have some pretty serious motor work you arent pulling an 18 or 19 tooth sprocket...
badcompany
unless you have some pretty serious motor work you arent pulling an 18 or 19 tooth sprocket... Aint that the truth. You dont need as much gear as u think to run the 1/4, it just takes some testing. I run a drag gas 350 and had trouble pulling a 17/39 through the 1/4, i was only pulling mid to high 90 mph, and i pulled 99 mph with 15/39. THe difference was, with the 17, i wasnt near topped out yet, and with the 15, i was topped out 20 feet passed the 1/8.
