'shee
I am sure someone will say this is a repeat thread. I want to see all your opinions still, here is my situation. Bike and mods: 1996 Banshee Mikuni 28mm Flatslide carbs FMF Fattys and Powercore 2's. Dyntek Programmable ignition 12 tooth front sprocket stock sprocket rear 42 i think... Pro design cool head K&N air filter K I want to know if i am geared way to low for my setup. When I drag on asphalt I am constantly shifting, its repeated like clutch shift clutch shift until 6th when i shut it down. Here is the real question: I don't want to hinder its performance in the sand. If i go up am i going to lose speed in my drag races? what is your input? Thanks Edited June 9, 2006 by 'shee

Thanks Im running 15/41.12/42 is low as hell I bet you do shift alot,I would say that ratio is really hindering your performance on all terrain. brodysblanshee
Depending on your riding I would step up to a 13T or 14T front sprocket...

9603banshee
the ultimate gearing for your setup for sand would be 13/41.......asphalt would be 14/41......get rid of that 12, it's gotta be killing you!!
RILS
Itp Holeshot 20x11x9 and 20x10x8 sand sharks [/quote I would say 15/42 would be near pefect.I found with 14/41 I was constanly shifting even bone stock. You should have no problem pulling the 15 im running 15/41 which is alittle higher and all i have is pipes and high compression and some pods and pull my ratio fine. dajogejr
12 tooth **Might** be ok for 2nd gear launches in the sand... For pavement I agree...it's killing you. Stock gearing, believe it or not...is pretty darned close to perfect for a piped/jetted stock motor shee. When you start pulling more ponies with porting, strokers, etc., is where the gearing really can play a factor... I'd try a 15 tooth for ashphalt drags... Dead Op
I have the same mods you have xcept for the coolhead, mine is milled. I ran 16, 40 last season but it was a little bit of a struggle to start out in 2nd gear, yet then again in 6 th gear I was next to a dodge ram at 93 mph. Now I run 15 42, because I do alot more trail riding, this is a real good gear setup IMO
