I'm thinking I'm gonna go withan extended swingarm but can't decide on going 4 or 6 inches. I ride mostly on tha streets and not so much in the dirt. I want to still be able to ride it hard with my friends but I want to be able to leave hard at tha drag strip and the bike not come up on me. 2strokesmoke Posted June 6, 2006 Report Share Posted June 6, 2006 for the mods you have now a 4 would be fine , your weight has a lot to do with it . but if you plan to do more motor work you might want the 6 (not trail friendly) very wide turning . i have a 6 and i weigh 250 i can wind it up tight and drop the clutch with not much lift ,i hope this helps some . oh and welcome Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

BansheeBrian Posted June 6, 2006 Report Share Posted June 6, 2006 Start with a 120 link and work you're way down.I have 15/41 for sprockets and ended up using 117 links.Just don't go el cheapo on a chain and you'll do fine. Animalman294 Posted June 8, 2006 Report Share Posted June 8, 2006 Yea, I noticed that some swingers use aftermarket round carriers, and others use the stock carrier. At the risk of sounding stupid which is better to use, and if you stick with the stock carrier housing can you get an aftermarket bearing assembly later? And is that as good as the round house carrier? I am lookin' into a +4 or a +6, which is 5-600 then you need the carrier at 175-250. BansheeBrian Posted June 8, 2006 Report Share Posted June 8, 2006 My advice is to get away form the stock style carrier.Doing so you won't have to worry about adjusting the time consuming chain adjusters.I like the roundhouse for looks and simplicity. I just paid Janssen 700 flat for a +4 roundhouse with bearings,billet carrier and brake holder. Just a warning that if you buy an econo swinger for 4-500 and you want to upgrade you'll sell it for 300.Now you're looking at 700+ dollar swingarm and you lost a few hundred because you didn't go better quality the first time around.Sucks because i've made the same mistake. He quoted me 675 for a lonestar aerotube, chromed, w/lifetime warranty and carrier. Definately spend the money and go w/the honda style carrier. I've got a stock extended +6 and I can't wait tell I have the extra cash to get a round tube swinger w/honda carrier. Much easier to adjust and looks nicer also. Check out Modquad, from what I've been told the fella' that used to make Tucker swingers under his own name is now the one making them for Modquad. Thats probably what I'll get when the time comes. +4 is nice you can still lift the front, +6 for the most part drop it and go. I wiegh about a buck 50 and on wet sand 2 weeks ago I had to start peddling it cuz it was rippin' it up pretty good. I'm also geared really low for tree shots though.
