dajogejr
don't let anybody tell you that a banshee is not a good trail ride. when you learn to handle a banshee in the woods, and manipulate the clutch and power band, you will not be disapointed. sure, a few bolt on mods will help- pipes, filter, shocks, tires, etc. Not saying a shee can't be a good trail machine...that thick ass foam seat sure is comfy. However, you have to put a few thousand dollars into it to make it comparable as a box stock new fourstroke... Sure, a piped shee will run down a stock 4 stroke...but, the jumps, berms and whoops between 'em will be 450 territory...

dajogejr
Got it... Just got done riding an R and YFZ today. still working the bugs out of my cub motor... MY budy was nice enough to let me ride his banshee (stock, milled head and 2 into 1 pipe)..just to put around. He blew a crank bearing...he thinks...on his R. Just about everyone I ride with has an R, YFZ...and there's even a few 400EXs...
375hp banshees
im going to purchase a new banshee well last years model.. all black (05) for a very good deal and im finaly ready to buy it, now theres lots of toss up between the banshee and the raptor,, i here the dealers diffrences, but i would like input from all of you. are the raptors good , better than a banshee, i was allways brung up on banshees bein the best although i never owned one.. i wont be hittin dunes, wouldent mind hill climbin, def alot of trail riding and wide open fields is a must,, what quad is faster of the two buy how much and what are the diffrences that you guys see and here? sorry if these are dumb questions.... banshee's run hot when trail ridding SLOW or SOFT sand (putting w/ 4 pokers & kids) Iput A fan on my '87 shee & will be putting one on my '04 when ridding w/ my daughter it heats up quickly w/ no or little air flow. most people dont use temp gauges I guess?? I don' t see many post about it so here is my .02. still take A shee ,w/ fan If needed, over 4 poke though banshee's run hot when trail ridding SLOW or SOFT sand (putting w/ 4 pokers & kids) Iput A fan on my '87 shee & will be putting one on my '04 when ridding w/ my daughter it heats up quickly w/ no or little air flow. most people dont use temp gauges I guess?? shehan
I own both, so here's my two cents. (I have an 03 LE raptor and the last model SE banshee). The raptor is essentially a tractor with tons and tons of low end which will also stay right up there with the banshee. My 03 is jetted, exhaust and all that and has just as much if not more than the stock banshee. The raptor... its like ridin' the cadillac that wont ever fail you when your talking about trial riding. Banshee screams around the fields and is balz out whenever your ready. When talking about trail riding - it just takes a bit more work and experience... but will rock through the trails too. If I'm going to be on tight trails, where I'm climbing, twisting and turning my way up the mountain - I would rather cruise on the raptor. Just preference and ease of it. As long as you keep the banshee in the powerband , it will take you anywhere you want to go. Trail riding - the raptor has reverse. Both are awesome in their own ways... and I wouldnt trade either of 'em.
dajogejr
Very well put, and I couldn't agree more... Ok...I'd rather have the 450...but, a Raptor feels more top heavy, but it is a fine choice as well!!
