mopar9012
well i would go to the blaster forum but it shut down or something. so i have a blaster and one day i went to crank it up and smoke was coming out of my head pipe where in connects to the cylinder jug. so i furgured i needed a new gasket. turns out there was none anyway( i had bought one about 3 months ago and put it on but it was there) so i thought that was definitly the problem. there was oil there too. so i put on the new gasket and there smoke still coming from that spot new the cylinder jug. i tightened up the springs but still no change. do you got any ideas on how to help? dajogejr
Are you using the oil injection, or did you block that off so you could premix? Have you done a compression test lately? Are there a ton of hours on the engine? Could be too much oil, could be worn rings/pistons letting it blow by... warped/dirty/bad gasket surface... Pick your poison!! mopar9012
i have the block off. the rings should be good i replaced the stock piston and rings and all that about 6 months ago. its a 2001 but has not been ridden that much. ive ridden in maybe a little over 15 hours. the guy i bought it from last year said he only rode it 4 times. i have not done a compression test...how would i do that? dajogejr
When you replaced the piston and rings, did you get the new piston and cylinder measured (mic'd) to make sure they're within spec'd clearances? New piston in an old/worn out bore won't be much good. Buy or borrow a good, name brand tester. A motorcycle style tester.... Get a Clymers manual while you're at it...they're priceless. OH, and what are you mixing your oil to gas at? Edited June 2, 2006 by dajogejr
mopar9012
no sorry actually i had it bored but even when i got it bored the guy said it looked brand new.(i shouldnt have gotten it bored but hey) i have a blaster manual. the ratios is 16:1 Edited June 2, 2006 by mopar9012
dajogejr
Holy Christ.... Ok...tame down that oil. You don't even need to run that much oil with alky... Try 32:1 or 40:1...with a good name brand oil. Yamalube, Maxima, Klotz, etc. That's just twice as much oil as you should have...period. See how that works...should run better too. That much oil in your gas isn't passing through your jets very easily...
mopar9012
ok so maybe about 4 oz for 1 gallon instead of 8? and i never had this probelem before and i just relized like yesterday the was oil too when i said it smoking. the was oil over the the flange and all that. could the smoke be from the engin heating up and burning it up? dajogejr
More than likely NOT burning it up...too much, and it's seeping out. 4 oz per gallon is just fine. Here's a chart to help.... http://www.dansmc.com/2stroke_oil.htm
mopar9012
okay thanks for your help. im going to change the ration but im still going to do a compression test. my dad already has a thing to test compression for his motorcycle so ill check it tonight. thanks

lowriderb
blaster site = planetblaster.org thats alot of oil for the mix, even with alcohol we only run 40:1 the seal your looking for is inset into the bolt on neck of the cylinder.. see if that one got put back in since the bore.. (new top end gasket set should have one in it also).
mopar9012
for the blaster site i always typed in blasterhq.com and its not been working lately for me. i put on new gaskets when i got it bored.
lowriderb
blasterhq went down a while back, that is the new one that has pretty much exceeded it.. if everything is torqued down all the way around on the cylinder, you may have to use some rtv between the cylider and the exhaust flange..
