handle bar grips slipping

Recommended Posts

Ive put on 5 sets of grips. Everytime, i've srayed some paint or laquer into the grip, gave it one shake to rid of excess and slid/twisted the grip on. Left alone for the day, viola! Set up, never came off. Some of the grips have twisted a bit during riding, but none have ever come off or even started to.

3m yellow weatherstrip glue    almost need a grinder to change grips

Word...cheap, big tube...enough to do dozens of grips.

Also, I run two small wire loops on each grip.

Nothing says ouch like grabbing a handful of throttle and a grip coming off at the same time...

you must CLEAN the handlebars to get rid of any dirt, grease oil etc, then hit em with some light sandpaper only where the grips cover them up. next clean the crap out of the grips to get rid of any grease, oil dirt etc from the inside.

finally put a few drops of superglue onto the inside of each grip, spin the grip so the superglue goes all the way around. install, come back in 30 mins. there you go.

i've always used a little dish washing liquid to help them slip on easy. mine haven't slid off yet after about 2 years  they may twist a bit over time, but they are on there pretty tight.
