Slayer1018
Right here... I was using KLOTZ but this stuff is much better. Very tacky.... I don't see how anything could get through there.
differentstrokes
Never tried it, but I've always had good luck with maxima foam oil and their fab 1 spray too. Is it real thick when you pour it?
DIRTMAN350
Foam. Hell k&n is the only way to go imo.
Slayer1018
Foam. Hell k&n is the only way to go imo. 521287[/snapback] I keep hearing and reading that K and N filters let more dirt and dust through. To answer whether the oil is thick? It doesn't appear to be until you get it on your hands and it becomes stringy like glue... I pour it on a plate and roll my filter in it. rocketboy
best foam filters thats like saying what is the best brand of rabbiit ears for my television . k&N is the only way to roll ,if the oil is thick and wont allow any dirt to possibly get through then yo ubetter belive it wont allow much of any air to get through either and air is what helps make power . runa outerware o nyour k&n and youll be just fine
csrmel
ive awalys had good luck with chainsaw bar oil. its tacky as hell and alot cheaper than those speciality foam oils. i think a gallon or bar oil is about $2 at walmart.
differentstrokes
I like k&n too, I run those on my banshee and foam on my trx450r.
mnduner
fab 1 spray on oil kicks ass. foam filters are better because they are thick and air moves through passages hitting oil on the way through where k&n is a layer with holes in it. my 02 always ran foam on my dirtbikes and have seen many turbos dusted from k&ns
Hilarious
I have yet to see a foam air filter last as long as a K&N. I've had some uni foam filters that have rotted and fallen apart when the K&N was still in one piece. I used some No Toil oil and cleaner when I had the foamies and it worked well. Just my .02$
brock_fuzzy_69
i can most certainly agree with a kand N filter letting ina ton of dust my shee had a pro design plate with a big K N with an outerwear an the inside of that filter was pure dust everywhere
yyz
best foam filters thats like saying what is the best brand of rabbiit ears for my television . k&N is the only way to roll ,if the oil is thick and wont allow any dirt to possibly get through then yo ubetter belive it wont allow much of any air to get through either and air is what helps make power . runa outerware o nyour k&n and youll be just fine i agree... but if you are running foam (i used to), then the yamaha or the maxima are both really good... i think they are they same thing... both blue, both tacky, both smell the same... no probs with the k&n's however... woudn't run anything else... at least two main jet sizes bigger with the k&n's w/outerwears compared to the same size oiled foam filter... and, 1/4 the maintainance... yyz
dawarriorman
Yeah, you K&N people can have them. Maybe on a car, but not anything that goes through as much dust as a quad. I've changed too many peoples K&N filters and seen all the dust on the inside of their intake for me to ever trust one of those. Foam won't let a thing through. And I've tried super tacky oils before (Bel Ray, even brake cleaner won't get that stuff off your hands), and finally switched to PJ1 in the spray can. Works just as well, really easy to put on, and it comes off really easy with their spray on cleaner.
