fastcar01
Well I took my Banshee out for hte first time this weekend. When I bought it I had to rebuild the carbs, and now it runs real good. The only thing I really notcied was once it heats up, it is hard to start?? Usually it is the other way around. I have to kick it about 5 times. It didn;t seem to matter much opening the throttle either? ANy ideas? I imagine a carb issue, the only thing I could maybee think is a low float, but even that doesn't seem right becasue cold it starts on the first kick? Maybee a stator going out? Thanks
87_shee
I have the same problem with my rebuilt 87 ..starts first kick cold and it takes 3 or 4 when warmed up...im interested to see if anyone know why
fastcar01
It seems like it has to be something carb related. I was even thinking out of sync, but that doesn;t seem right, becasue it will start on the one cylinder with the choke, before the other one kicks in. So it can run fine on one cylinder. DIRTMAN350
Just an idea check the gap on your pick-up coil. I had a similar problem with mine and found my gap on pick-coil too far out. That worked for me.
fastcar01
I definatley don;t think it is overheating, it runs fine, just like it should, just hard to get started. I will check the pick up coil. Where is that located? (I guess I could look in thte book). SOrry if thta is a basic question, but like I said this is my first Banshee. fastbanshee8
Since it has gotten warmer, it could be too rich on the bottom end. Try opening up you air screws 1/4-1/2 turn, on each carb, and see if that doesn't help. You may have to open them up more than what I suggested, to get it tuned right. fastcar01
Well I checked the pick up coil gap. It was right at .020. SO I guess I could move it in some (I believe I read the spec was .015-.020). WHat next? SHould I bother moving that? One more thing I am going to change out those stupid phillip heads with some allen heads on the side cover. They were a pain to get out. ANyone know the size/length off hand? It was either 1.5 or two, whatever the manual said to. WHat is a good settting for stocvk setup in 65+ whether? Thanks
Mr.Giggles
The old won't start when hot syndrome. I would do a compression test,2 strokes don't like to start when hot if it needs a top end rebuild.
