RILS
I am just starting to mod my 04.I have trinity stage 4 pipes k&n pods a noss head and a timing plate.Ive not installed anythingyet going to do it next week some of the parts havent arriced yet.My question is will my stock crank hold up to the compression 18cc domes will give me.Im at 1000 feet above. Everything in the motor is stock with low hours.I dont mind running race gas its readily avaible in my area.I was told buy trinity that i shound not have a prob but thought i would get everybodys opinion.I do plan on porting and crank truing and welding when i rebuild but really just getting broke in now so it could be awhile. EastCoast Banshee
you shouldnt have any problems with just that stuff. i think the general rule of thumb is anything above 60 you should deff. check into getting it trued and welded. ssanddemon
The prob with the cranks is that they are a mass production item- some are gonna be stronger at the splines than others. Personally, I didn't want a weak/bad part on my bike so I pulled mine and had it welded before doing many mods at all; it only cost like $100 bux for welding and gaskets. But there are LOTS of guys running unwelded cranks on fairly strong motors and I haven't heard of many coming apart. It's really a judgment call. dlnoss
With all that I'd prefer a welded crank. Or maybe 19cc domes until you have the crank done. Race gas with either.
