cdwood37
i put the shearer pipes on today and took the shee for a spin it opened up fierce and then when i got to fifth and was winding it up it started to cut out and had no power then it would take off for a second then cut out then go again what could be wrong, if i would turn it off start it up then it would take off good again then start to cut out again. cdwood37
even in low gears it started to do it like taking off and just going from 2nd gear it would still barely go then take off for a second then bog like crap again? could it be my cdi? it sounded like one pipe was not making near the noise the other one was. and one side didn't ping like the other i switched the wires and it changed sides as far as the weak sonding pipe. wesw
whats your jetting and did you get a carb sync tool from jeff. you might invest in one.
cdwood37
i am not sure on my jetting i barely got the pipes on and it started this crap so i never got the chance to check it no sync tool either, could it be running out of fuel, it seemed to be fine for the first three gears then it would bog, if i let it idle for a second then take off it would haul ass till like 4th gear or so then bog again. batoutofshell
check your coil wires I bet one came loose form the vibration
cdwood37
that would make it run then cut out like that? It ran fine the last time i rode it when it had the t-6 pipes so that kind of rules out a fuel issue i think.
cdwood37
coil wires seem to be okay
batoutofshell
yes if one is loose or comes off you lose spark to that plug wire and it will cut out and start backfiring in that cylinder then eventually kill the engine. You might have loosened one up when putting on your pipes. unscrew and check the endcaps of the plug wires too could be some rust in there cut alittle off and rescrew on add some dielectric grease to them. fastbanshee8
Sounds like you are too lean on your needle. Drop the clip one notch, and see if that doesn't help.
batoutofshell
Yea I read through this again when you change pipes you have to change your main carb jets, and play with the needles. list any other mods, location, evlavation to your shee and someone here can get you close. cdwood37
i don't know the jet sizes because i have never taken the carbs apart yet i was going to and it started this crap on the first ride. all my mods are in my sig,I am at 5500 feet of elevation. I got the carbs from F.A.S.T. racing and he said they would be a little fat on the jetting but i guess i will have to take it apart and see.
