Riding types and Pipes

Hey all. I had my new banshee here fer a good while now n finally decided its time ta start moddin it, just had a few questions. I live up here in northern Wisconsin and like ta do a litle bit a everythin. Mainly i like a lotta MX track and circle racin, but come winter im all about ice drag. What id like ta do is build a machine ats untouchable all the way a round (whether r not its actually possible lol, just a fun thought ya). My biggest point a confusion comes with pipes, cause there are so many specific types, some high and sum low. I was looking mainly though at Grand River Racing in frame suicide drag pipes. They said they are the BEST banshee pipes as they help all the ways across the band, with limitless mid and top end power. I dont know if anyones familiar with these but ya can see em at www.grandriverracing.com, and i was just wonderin if theyd be what id want. All input is muchly appreciated and bein a new guy here id also like ta say nice ta meet yall n great ta be here. Thanks!

GRR builds great stuff, no doubt. But, a pipe that helps all the way across the powerband just doesn't exist. There has to be a trade somewhere, low, mid, top, low/mid, mid/top. All pipes run great at a certain point. The trick is to find the one that is going to run the way you want it to at the RPM you want it to come to life at.

PTR mids=low/mid

CPI/Shearer/GRR+top(for inframes at least)

2:1=low

Those are just a few options, good luck.

Grand River does make some great pipes....for drag racing. Doesn't sound like you're ready for that yet.

They might make more power throughout the "drag" powerband (all upper RPM) but they are NO trail or all around pipe by any means.

If you called Andy @ GRR, he'd tell you that.

I agree...T5 is a great all around pipe. Not the best anywhere, but very good all around.

If I had to choose a second all around, I'd say Paul Turner Mids, FMF Fatty or Pro Circuit.

Search around...this topic is one of the top 3.

I like my Dynoport 2into1 setup. If you're doing a lot of MX stuff, these are the pipes to have. Stump pulling power and decent midrange with an acceptable top end. Get your port on and you'll have an around managable bike.

Not mention the sound they produce. If anyone tells you they sound like a street bike or an F1 car, they aren't lieing.

However if I wasn't planning on toying around with turboing, I'd prolly have a set of Rockets or Toomeys.

The T-6's were designed to work best with stock Shee's with little to no mods. From the people that I have talked to and raced with the 6's they say that they drop off fast after they reach the upper end of the powerband.

In fact one guy told me that they are shaped like their dyno curve from the side.
