Jet/pilot sizes good?

Recommended Posts

I'm new to doing this my self just wanted to make sure I'm on the right page. I read up on Banshee HQ about the jetting sizes for mods first and this is what I came up with for my mods. Bone stock Banshee. I'm adding k&N filter with outerwear in the box and I'm keeping the lid on. The lid is vented. The snorkel is removed. Also adding Toomey T-6's. My pre-mix ratio is 40:1. My elevation is at sea level. (WA state) Temperature is between 50 and 80 degrees. Humidity is not that high. The sizes I came up with are; Main jets 340, pilot 30, and keep needle clip in stock position and adjust air screws. What do you guys think? Am I close or way off? Thanks in advance.

with that airbox even with vented lid you will vary 50-80 degress I would say 280 at most when its 80 maybe 300 if its 50. 340 way too fat you would only need that if you had pods but you don't. My 2 cents

Agreed, 340 to big. When I had the box on my 99 with the T-5's I ran 310's with no lid. I'm just running 340's now with K & N's. May wanna at least pick up a set of 27.5 pilots and try both the 25's and 27.5's and see which is better for you at the bottom of the rev.

Ok, from the information I've gathered. I should go with 320 mains and keep the need clip in the stock position. As far as the pilots I am confused. From the banshee jetting faq I should go up 2 sizes on the pilots. The stock pilot sizes are 25 right. So I should be at 30. Some people are saying 20 and to me that is backwards. I'm new at this and I'm not saying people are wrong, I just don't want to buy 8 sets of pilots and 8 sets of mains. Any more guidance?

I recommended 20-pilots because of personal experience at sea level with close to same set up as you. When I would run anything bigger then a 20 pilot the engine had no response down low and it was around 55 degrees.Just my .02 cents

Thanks for all the help guys. From all the info gathered I don't know where to start. I do have a question though. What will the effects be if the jets are too samll or to big and same question for pilots? Also not going with the T-6's anymore going with the T-5s Also is there anyone here that rides in WA state. Preferably capital forrest/rock candy?

Just a little advise. Go with the clamp on k & N's. Pretty good power increase over the box. I've tried both, clamp ons are the way to go. Much easier to work on the carbs too. Just keep the box and hack the back off to hold your coolant bottle.
