Jet/pilot sizes good?

It would be best to start your own thread rather than crap on this user...

 

What is your elevation? KS don't mean squat to me...

 

Your lean on your main, no doubt. With clamp ons, T5s, less than 1000Ft and 50 to 80 degree temps, you should be around a 330 or 340 main...

 

What do your plugs look like?

Thanks for all the help guys. I put the 310's in today. Going to put pipes on in a week. I'm starting at jet size 310 because its usually cold here. Leaving the pilots stock and needle clip in stock position. I'll let you all know how it turns out.

Got the T-5's on and the 310 jets. Running really rich. Bogs at top of 5th. After consideration and fighting the rain in WA state I decided to go with no air box and just the k&n with outerwear and went down to 300 jets. Still have the stock pilots and needle position Running very lean according to plug chop. Electrode was all bone white and the tip of plug was burned white. Didn't overheat though. I am going to try 320's with the set up for just the k&n with no box. Also right off idle if I ease the throttle very slow she will cut out and die. If I rev it good she runs great right off idle. Any suggstions about that and what d you think about thre next jet size I am going to try?

Take another 5th gear run.

When it starts to bog, pull the choke out halfway...if it gets better, you're too lean.

Gets worse and wants to die, you're too rich.

 

Bogging is normally rich condition...

 

Off idle, try turning your air screws all the way in, lightly seating them. Start with 1/2 turn out on each, and stop when you get the best off idle throttle response.

On my 99 I run T-5's,  twin K & N's, outerwares, 340 mains,  27.5 pilots with the air screw 1 and a half turns out.  I'm at sea level, 60-80 degrees.  This should get you pretty close.

Ok, I got the 340's in. Runs good haven't got to do a plug chop yet. As far as the pilots and air screws I went with the 27.5 pilots and 1 and 1/2 out on airscrews. Still have the cut out right off idle. I looked at my carb slides and they appear to be in sync. What else could it be?

The 340's are running lean believe it or not. Not that much lean though. I'm going to 350's to see if thats right on the money. As far as the stock pilots, turned the airscrew all the way in and still had the cut out at off idle. Went to 27.5 pilots. Still need to do the adjustments with air screws and a plug chop. Couldn't today it started raining. Any one know what else the problem could be for the off idle cut out?

Got the plug chop done. This is the chop with the 340 mains, 27.5 pilot and needle in stock position with stock needles. I still have a cut out right off idle only if I don't nail it. I think my carbs might be out of sync. What do you think about the plug chop and the cut out right idle. Is there any way to check and see if my pilot jets are rich or lean too?? I hope the pic posted!!
