Big Blue
80w gear oil, regular motor oil, tranny fluid take your pick.
dajogejr
1. Clymers manual is the banshee bible....all this info is in there. 2. This varies...some will say ATF, gear oil, hydrallic oil, etc. I personally have always used Bel -Ray Gearsaver 80W oil...never hand a tranny problem in any of my 2 stroke transmissions. As long as it's not Crisco....
ajsproaudio
The Local Yamaha Shop Told me that I coul dprolly use 10w 30 Car oil. I want to use what the machine requires or what is best for it. I will use 80w gear oil if that is good for it but I don't want to use it, If it is gonna wear out quicker. I need a honest answer from a person who uses what they are telling me to use...
Big Blue
I have always used 10/30 or 10/40 motor oil and have never had any trouble from it. Gear oil doesnt break down as quick but in cold weather you need to like the bike run and warm it up before riding, tranny oil works great also you just need to change alot more often. ajsproaudio
Ok well I am gonna go and buy Mobil 1 Synthetic 10w40 motor oil. My next Question is How much does it Require?
dajogejr
DO NOT buy car oil. They have special detergents for keeping a motor clean... Buy some gear saver or other oil designed to be used in two cycle engine cases. 80W gear oil for motorcycles works just fine in the winter... It's compatible or comparable to 10W40 oil..viscosity/weight wise...
Ducman
Ok well I am gonna go and buy Mobil 1 Synthetic 10w40 motor oil. My next Question is How much does it Require? 511958[/snapback] You absolutely do not want to use Mobil 1. It has friction modifiers that will help your clutch slip. It is best if you can buy gear oil made specifically for a 2 stroke motorcyle gear box like 80w Bel Ray or Maxima gear oil, but 10w-30 or 10w-40 4stroke engine oil will work fine, but just get the cheap dynosaur oil, not the synthetic stuff. ajsproaudio
Ok then 80w Gear Oil. How Much Does the Case Require?
KlotzBanshee
I've been using the Bel Ray 80w clutch saver for years with no problems w/ clutch or trany. You may have to change it more frequently, but so what. cheap insurance if you ask me. 1500cc cap. its like 1.6 qts or 1.5 L ....something like that. Buy a manual asap. dajogejr
Thanks...ducman, that's what I was trying to get at. It takes 1500ccs. So...it'll end up being between 1.5 quarts and 1.75 quarts....
Ducman
Ok then 80w Gear Oil.
