fsubanshee
OK I want to buy a long travel front kit for my 2001 banshee. My question is who has the best kit for the money, I can afford expensive kits would rather not pay 1300 for one, i would be interested in a set of used ones if anyone has them for sale. Also what is the difference in handling and riding chacteristics between +2 arms and +2 +1 arms. I ride the dunes mostly but also ride the trails from time to time. If i widen the front do i need a wider axle or would wheel spacers suffice? My goal is to be able to hit the whoops at warp speed. My plan for now is to use YFZ front shocks until i save up more money for something better. Is there a difference in long trave and just extended arms? If so how do i know which are longtravel. I searched the forums for an answer to my question but the search feature doesn't appear to be working. Thanks any help would be appreciated. racer
search this forum and read every post of each LT thread, then see if you still want it.
fsubanshee
OK. I have read the threads regarding long travel but it still seems like a mystery to me. Is bump steer really that big of an issue? Are all extended A-arms mismatched length like +2,+1 because it seems that it would give extreme negative camber, which i'm not sure is a bad thing. What i really want to know is what type of front suspension to use to absolutly fly through the whoops. Any help would be appreciated. fsubanshee
Thanks. I thought that +2+1 meant that the bottom arm was +2 and the upper arm was+1. Sorry for the confusion.

Sorry for the confusion. 510919 haha, not quite. to be honest i have never ridden a "longtravel" shee and therefore dont know how bad the bumpsteer is. but id steer clear (no pun intended) of anything that is going to randomly change the direction im going, especially at speed. ThE_BaNsHeE_mAn88
i want to try to get+3 long travel suspension for my bike i was woundering if a stearing stabilizer would get rid of all bump steer or just some?
rebelbanshee2
seems like everyone says the Banshees will have horrible bump steer with long travel, but no one has actually ridden one with long travel. heres my opinion on it. The long travel kits arnt really giving you anymore travel. They just alter the shock angle. The shock shaft travels farther, but the wheel doesnt gain that much. The wheel can only go as far as the balljoints wil move no matter what shock you run. So without much gain in travel why would the Banshee handle any worse than it already does? Bottom line....Go out and buy a 250R:evil:
broke
Bottom line....Go out and buy a 250R:evil: It doesn't have to be a 250R. I know of a Banshee with long travel.
racer
So without much gain in travel why would the Banshee handle any worse than it already does? Bottom line....Go out and buy a 250R:evil: 511544 because its more of a nomenclature conundrum. long travel in the sense that they market it for banshees actually means longer shock. like you mentioned altering the shock's angle. but a true LT, like 12" or more will give adverse bumpsteer conditions. JET 99
I have laegers (LT) +2+1 with elkas and it makes a world of diff. I can skip off the top of woops and washboards in third gear on the gas and still have all my teeth in my head unlike a stock setup. the stock set up and same trail was second gear and hang the .... on to the bars cause you gonna get the shit beat out of ya The front end was pricey but I am very happy with the end result!
