night
WAIT I MEAN TO SAY IT WAS MISSING OFF THE PETCOCK IT WAS ACTUALY FLOATING IN THE GAS TANK. 510306[/snapback] Since your reserve tube was of the petcok and floating in the gas tank, how many minutes did your "RES" last? DGFUNNY70
I really couldn't say I never let my gas run that low I always filled up before it ran dry and most of the time I never let it get to reserve I fill up everytime I leave camp no matter how much fuel I have in my tank but I belive the "RUN" tube is a bout 2.5 to 3 inches long so it would last quiet a while
NYUK
night , are you trolling? it`s not rocket science my man.there`s no possible mathematical table you could use to accurately guage the precentage on how far or long reserve will get you.it is to get you out of the woods or to your truck when you run out in the on position.it was suggested to you many times to buy the huge ims tank if you need more range.reserve is just the puddle of gas in the low spot.it will bounce when riding.starving the motor for fuel.i think we have a troll here, mudcool or someone under a new name. Wallrat
I've only been on reserve twice, and I don't think it lasted even 10 minutes. Both times I was already heading back to camp. 1 time I made it, the other time I had to get towed the last mile.

It says: Total Fuel Tank= 3.2 US Gal RES=0.7 US Gal Now if you take 0.7 and divide it by 3.2 you get 0.21875 and multiply it by 100 and you get 21.875% which is approximately 20%. So in other words your RES should last you 20% of the total duration, distance or whatever you wona call it. BTW, I am not a troll.

I mean how did the ON and RES plastic tubes looked like in relation to each other.. With plastic tube how did they look in length. and without tube how did they look in length. A sketch or photo will be appreciated, anyone?
mnduner
on run you ride till its sputters or dies then you switch to res and it will drain all the rest of the fuel from the tank. on my street bike it died while petcock was "on" switched to "res" and only got a half mile pulled the tank off and found on tube was cracked so it would drain fuel all the way to the bottom. take it out and look at it or just fill up more often the on tube doesnt suck fuel from the bottom of the tank while the res does if the res tube was broke off it would make no difference if the on was broke off then youd have no res at all Edited May 3, 2006 by mnduner
night
My understand is that the ON is 3 inch long and RES is 1 inch long. Reason RES is 1 inch long is so debris will sit on the tank floor. I think some photos of the petcock will make a great clarification. If someone has those photos please post them. Thanks.
reded
Damn man, you gotta chill on this reserve thing. It's not that big of a deal. One tube is approximately an inch shorter than the other. When the fuel level in tank gets low, it cannot flow into the taller tube. So, we switch to reserve setting, and the SMALL amount of fuel that is left in the tank gets used up by flowing into the short tube. When this happens the motor dies and your done, finished! I have yet to see the reserve on a Banshee work worth a shit, but I don't lay in bed at night fretting over it. I don't think that Yamaha meant for the reserve feature to get you another 30 miles toward your destination. If having to walk is what you're worried about, try taking the gas cap off and peering in the tank every so often. This will alert you to a low fuel level and give you ample time in which to make it safely back home or to the truck.
Fireroad Express
night, people can post all kinds of pics for you, but it's not going to help unless you check it out your self. try filling your tank(turn off fuel first) and disconnect the fuel line.make sure the banshee is on a level surface.put a bucket or container under your fuel valve(petcock) turn the petcock/valve to the normal "on" position and see how much you get in the bucket.you can even measure it if you want!!! then turn the petcock to the reserve position and see how much fuel comes out in the bucket or container. this should tell you how much reserve capacity you actually have.. if you can't do this yourself take it to a shop or find someone who can help you with it. purely out of curiosity, where exactly are you from?
