Wallynut
Things made to cut wood, have no trouble cutting fingers. Seen lots of accidents and have had a few of my own, they suck. Years ago, a co-worker was making some small mouldings on the shaper, the piece shattered and shoved part of it back at him, it went thru all 4 fingers on one hand between the muscle and bone. Had to cut him off the machine with a hand saw and run him to the hospital, something you'll never forget. Took him most of the year to recover. Hope you don't have any nerve damage, and hope it doesn't hold up your riding!
Cotton eyed Joe
Good to hear you don't have any permenant damage. Just be glad you aren't my drunk fuckin uncle. He rigged his mower saftey handle with a shoe lace so he wouldn't have to hold it to keep it running, and instead he could hold a tumbler of Jack over ice. Something jambed under the mower, so he reaches under a fuckin running mower lift it over what ever it was he hit, and it nipped about 1/8" inch off of 3 fingers on each hand. tithead
iv heard of alot of accidents from power tools but, i think the one i have seen was from when i was at school. we were in a design technology class. a guy in my class was about to use the bench mounted power drill.... you machinists on here will be familiar with these... a big fuck off drill that is mounted on a bench.. basically. he changed the drill peice to match the whole size he wanted to drill but left the key in the hole which you put it in for tightening and untightening. the key was connected to a chain which was connected to the machine... makes sence really incase anone looses it. he turned the drill on and ass it spun round the chain snapped and went straight through his finger. and i mean straight through.... it was clean. he just stood and looked at his finger. a couple guys rushed to turn the machine off. the teacher and a few guys had to cut the chain from the machine and tae him to hospital. they sad the shock and pain kicked in about 10 mins later..... ouch!!! MILO
i'm the shop supervisor at my work and a first responder for the company, so i've made several hospital runs with employees over the years. not my favorite part of the job, but shit happens and somebody has to help out the injured guy/woman. the worst one was one guy had a roll of fiberglass mat (about 500lbs) roll on him and broke both bones in his lower leg. he was alone in the mat room and drug himself into the hallway where somebody finally found him about 30 minutes later. then it took almost 45 minutes for an ambulance to show up. that's pretty bad when there are 4 ambulance companies within about 12 miles, mostly volunteer though, but that sure did open up a can of whoop ass from our company with the ambulance companies. meanwhile we're trying to keep this guy from going into shock etc and keep him stable. he ended up having several surgeries, off work for about a year, and now has a permanent limp, but at least he can still walk. there was a recent fatality at a local company though. some dude rolled a forklift onto himself
