papa_smurf49319
I know it has been talked about a million times, but i couldnt find a clear case for my answer. Ok so heres my situation, i have a brand new bottom and top end ( maybe 10 hours on it), a ricky stator with the timing advanced 4 degrees, b8es plugs that are tan and not fouled, and a pro flo clamp on air filter setup, mixing castor 927 at 32:1, my problem is after riding for 20 mins or so, she starts to overheat and will spit coolant from the radiotor cap, it doesnt run bad for say but its definetly not as fast and sounds different. Any help would be appreciatied. I did have a little miss problem which i traced down to a bad plug cap, and replaced both with to msd automotive caps, and that seemed to take care of that. batoutofshell
I had the same problem. if your spitting out the cap it is a bad cap get a new one like I did and it solved my problem, check the tongs on your radiator see if they are bad you could a new radiator on e-bay for 10-20 $$. It will not hold pressure thats could be why the overheating problem!
gipperz
You did'nt say what kind of riding, are you going fast enough to move air through the radiator, what kind of shape is the radiator in, is it plugged? How about the water pump, is it moving coolant. Also have you thought about a cool head?
Animalman294
Contact Dave at NOSS and he'll set you up with an anodized Blue Black or red head with what ever domes you choose. He goes by dlnoss on here and is a great guy to deal with. This way the cooling channels in the head are much better than stock and with the smaller domes you get more power, plus it looks bitchen on top of your motor.......... dajogejr
I don't know what PSI the stock cap is rated for...but, you can pick them up at an automotive store, as well...just make sure the PSI is the same. These are the same size about all imports and many newer domestics run...
papa_smurf49319
i ride trails and i do get into fifth or 6th hear and there, the cap looks alright i might have to pressure test it, how do i tell if my pumps bad i took off the cover and the brass cover and it looks fine? i let it idle for awhile and it was deffinetly not runnin the same though it did not spit coolant out the cap. the water in the radiadtor gets hot so the pump must be pushing the coolant. watkins
Always could try swapping your coolant out with engine ice. I havent overheated once under normal riding conditions since... only time I have overheated since then is when I am putting in first gear for extended periods of time (which is normal). gregbowler
I thought you had to run a resistor plug or factory plug boots with the resistor built in or you will fry the CDI box
