locogato11283
Geez...Loco...bout time you chimed in.... They are wet...a little gray for my taste. But, then again it's only run for less than 15 minutes or so total. I'm going to wait going any smaller on the mains until I get my head back on...and swapping CDIs. Then...I'll start with a leaner needle clip. It's going to be some simple tuning...throwing bigger carbs at it for the sake of "it'll run better" is not the answer here.... 503546[/snapback] i agree. it should run with stock carbs...there is nothing in your pipes is there? i had a problem kinda like this one time. bike would idle ok and rev a little but no WOT..turns out i forgot to pull one of the rags out of the pipe cuz i didnt see it.it was stuck back by the silencer. took it out and it was good then...just a thought. weirder shit has happened have u tested for an air leak?? might as well rule that out even tho i dont think those are symptoms of one... dajogejr
That's funny...I had to go check to make sure none of my buddies stuffed a "tato" into my tailpipe...wouldn't put it past 'em.... Didn't test for an airleak...that's going to be one of the last items on the list...after I rule out spark and jetting... At 180 PSI...I know I'm getting plenty of squeeze at the plug end...and the station I got my race fuel from is very busy...I know it's pretty fresh! kawicat
Jet 'er down. You said when you put the chokes on it ran worse, well that's a pretty good indication that your way rich. Just like everyone else said, the bigger ports/pipes will pull more air and fuel through the carbs, so you have to actually jet down. Just keep going on size at a time until it starts to sing. Don't forget your needles tune part and full throttle. If its kind of lazy in the mid range drop the needle or get one that is a tad leaner (smaller number) in mid range. That thing should rip! dajogejr
Your PC is beyond fixing...all that porn. I'm heading in the right direction...put 310 mains in it...it's a little better. I got nervous...wouldn't start at all...I left the choke tube off when I put the head back on... I'm going to lean the needle out tomorrow...and see how it goes.... Oh...and I cleaned up the wiring and replaced some burned wires...I've got lights again.... dajogejr
Just out of curiousity...what needles did you run...and what clip? I had toomey needles, which...are longer but skinnier...and I swapped them out for the stockers. I'm thinking of putting the Toomey/Dynojet needles back in...and 2nd or 3rd clip, they were in the 4th clip... I also read up on RNBRAD's leak down tester, great...great write up. Going to go make one tomorrow... Oh...and thanks for the reply!

dajogejr
Getting closer... I'm at the Toomey needle, 2nd clip, and 290 main. I'm going to a field tomorrow where I can open it up a bit and get out of second gear...the leaner I go...the better it is starting to feel... I have 6 plugs on hand, and will keep a close eye on them as I go...
bansheeseat$$
Thats good,I forgot to see what elevation your at.I'm at 4000 ft so you will probably need to have a bigger jet then me if your at sea level.
dajogejr
I'm in MI...so pretty much less than 1000...the state is all right about sea level.. There are only a few parts in the state that are even close to 1000 feet, none of which I ride at. Thanks again...will let all know how it turns out... rocketboy
if yo u just have a basic cub clean up port then i wouldnt be running huge ass mains just yet , like others have mentioned... the cubs( and hig h static compression) wil l pull more fue l throug h a smaller main than before . liste n to what your bike is telling you and it sounds like its saying "stop drowning me with fuel) . dont kid yourself it wil l run fine o n stock carbs, in fact it should have horrendous torque down low with your setup IMO . your shit is way off and your getting alot of crazy advise IMO . good luck
