It seems my banshee is just 1 step high to rich nothing worth rejetting over but if I do a differnt oil ratio will it help it a bit more? pipebomb Posted April 15, 2006 Report Share Posted April 15, 2006 Well i always try to be a bit on the safe side so i think i do about 42:1 but would it make a difference if I cut down to like 35:1?-37:1? 502445[/snapback] that's wrong. going from 42:1 to 35:1 is richening the mix not leaning it. you would be going from 42 parts gas to 1 part oil and making it richer by going to 35 parts of gas to 1 part oil. essentually your using the same amount of oil and mixing it ww/ Less gas. if you want to got leaner then you need to use Less oil to make it like 50:1( 50 parts gas to 1 part oil.) wish isn't a good Idea unless your bike is tuned perfectly to run like that, otherwise your gonna nuke your motor. remember Higher the #-Leaner the mix, lower the #- richer the mix and the ratio is always gas to oil. dajogejr Posted April 17, 2006 Report Share Posted April 17, 2006 Well...this is not entirely true. While going from 42:1 to 32:1 is richening the mixture, it is actually leaning out the jetting. Think about this. Gas will flow through a jet quicker than gas mixed with oil, right? (Thicker)... Stay with me here. The more oil you have in your gas...the thicker it will be, right? That being said...more oil in your gas...actually leans out the mixture a bit, since it can't flow as quickly through small...brass holes as that mixture with less oil.
