harpc88
421 cub, have trinity pipes now. I don't like how they fit. Performance seems good. Considering CPI's or T5's. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Your thoughts?

fastbanshee8
I bought a set of CPI's several months ago, and they fit like shit. The silencers were so bad, that I had to send them back for another set. When I got the new ones back, they fit better, but I still had to drill out the mounting holes on the silencers, and make some spacers for the front pipe mounts, plus I still had to fight the right silencer, to get it to go on the pipe. Overall, I probably wasted 6-8 hours putting the pipes and both sets of silencers on, and getting them to fit and look decent. If I had it to do over, I'd get the Shearer's. Seems like CPI is more interested in quantity, and not quality. My Shee runs real good with the CPI's, so it's up to you. Shearer's or CPI's will make it rip. I thought about sending mines back, but I didnt want to take a chance on not getting any silencers back from them. They sure do rip some serious ass though and sound good too. odaen
My CPI's fit flawlessly when I bought them. My shearers on the other hand......the left side is just a pain in the ass. The pipe wants to hit the head. If I space it out farther on the front mount, the stingers have clearance issues and the silencer doesn't want to line up. It's all good though, cause they pull like a freight train.
s-540
my shearer's also needed fitting. i had to modify an aftermarket hanger and a large spacer to get it to fit on the left side, but they fit good now. also if you know someone who cromes pipes i would get them without the crome and then have a shop plate them for you. what dont you like about the fit? you could modify your hangers to get a better fit. The right one is pointing up and left one is pointing down. There is no play in the hangers either. They just did a quick, crappy job of welding up the stinger tubes from what I can see. I also had to put a spacer on the left side, up front, just about like everyone else. But that's small potatoes. I'm happy with the way they perform. You may have to ride their asses, to get them to do something!!! They should issue a recall shipping ticket for you, but you will be without silencers for at least 2 weeks. They want the old ones back, to inspect, before they ship out the new ones. You can get silencers faster, if you want to pay CPI $120, which they should refund, once they get the screwed up ones back. I went through all of this crap, and it was a PITA, but I finally got a "decent" set of silencers.

Looked like some "cock-eyed Jr." welded them up.
