Sand Blaster
Last Wednesday, I went down to TDR racing for some port work & pipes and ended up with Cheetah Cub cylinders,TDR HP. billet head,Vforce reeds and CPI pipes. My question is, will stock carbs work with the right jetting until I can afford to upgrade my carbs? TDR said my stock carbs would work for now but I would lose 10 to 15 HP. Has anyone ever run this combo with stock carbs? I have been riding my shee bone stock for three years now and I can't wait!
rsheppick
Interesting you would put that kind of cash out and not go the extra step for the carbs. Why not give the pipes back and get some 35MM Strikers or something.. I have some super nice Mikuni T34MM 02E Carbs you can buy!
creamsickle
dont run stock carbs. when you are running too small of carbs it can work and you will lose hp but yo can also burn up your engine because they will not be consistant. dont take the chance wait till you get bigger carbs. what size crank you running. I have some 33pwks if you are interested. 225 shipped.
rsheppick
Yes. I agree not worth the hastle and all of the money spent. Sounds like that shop wanted all ur money and set you up to loose 15HP lol
lowriderb
i doubt tdr is wanting to take all this guys money and set him up to lose the ammount of hp that he will lose with the stock carbs on their account.. it sounds to me like its up to him on the carb set up.. i can see where money can run out, but if your really going to get this running right then your going to have to get some bigger carbs.. the cubs like to have the bigger carbs as well... 33's in this case may be still too small to feed these cylinders.. i would opt to go with some 35's or possibly bigger depending on what your doing with the motor.. hittintrees srh
went in for pipes and porting and came out with cubs?? this guy at tdr must be one hell of a sales man!!!! Get som 35's or bigger. (36mm lectrons) since you've already spent a lot of cash, spend a little more and do it right.
rocketboy
i wouldnt bash TDR on thsi one ,seems to me they steered him i nthe right direction ,he jus tran out of money to do all the required mods and they eve nadvised him he will lose lots of power and eventually need the bigger carbs ,throw some big mains in them ,i doubt your gonan burn your shit up if its jetted right
locogato11283
might run out of fuel on a wide open throttle run if you run it for a while...id invest in bigger carbs asap..i would go with at least 33mm pwk but 35 would be ideal... 2bzy2p
id go with at least a 35.5 and it would also be wise to invest in bigger billet bowls.. k&t,rdz and more sell those for about 125$ but wise investment!
creamsickle
the only way you are going to drain the bowl is if you are running alky. you wont need the bigger bowls.
2bzy2p
he never said if he was or was not! just a sug to help someone from burning 1600$ down the drain

Animalman294
From what it sounds like, I don't think the guy has to worry about burnin' alky if he is looking at cash flow problems with carbs. I agree though the better breathing 35 PWK strikers are what I was told to get from Jeff at FAST, and I think that is a plan............ FASTOYS
We have easily ran the bowls dry on some of our Drag ported Cubs . We have the fix for that though!
odaen
Drilling the vent in the gas cap will help the gas flow better so the bowls don't run dry.
