Recommended Posts

I didnt have any problems with mine.

I dont know if this help but the tops of mine are stamped with A2-70

I havent been able to find any bolts long enough for the upper a arms yet

the kit has everything for the plastics. This one shows they are there, I may be able to get the food peg bolts I'll check next time Im buy the place that sells them.

Thanks BB if A2 is grade 2 that pretty much sucks i missed teh alloy boltz kit then. I'm sure they will work, but they won't be nearly as strong as the grade 8 stuff :(

Just sucks since they actualy cost more money than AlloyBoltz as well. But since Alloy Boltz is closed I guess I am kinda limited.

I havent had any trouble with any of the suspension bolts which I assume are the ones that take the most stress, I just took all my suspension apart and the bolts still look the same as they did when I put them in if that makes you feel any better.

Yea you are right, still jsut paid mroe for inferior bolts.

I found this chart

http://home.jtan.com/~joe/KIAT/kiat_2.htm

But I guess im not going to worry about iot since the good stuff is not available anymore anyways. For Footpegs and motor mounts though, it would be nice to have the stronger bolts.

on my bike I had the upper a arm bolts chromed and also the swimgarm bolt along with the shock bolt with the zerk fitting. I also went to ace hardware and they sell chrome bolts, so thats what I used for my foot pegs. But I also drilled my foot pegs to 12 mm from the 10mm stock. hope this helps

Does chroming them keep them from freezing up in the sleeve (forgot the word for this). I'd rather find stainless ones I know they are not going to be cheap. I think I was talking to Russ actualy and he said they would be like $20 each! but well id pay it after what I had to go through last time.

I wish I could find a cheap chrome shop around here I might consider going that route but I'm not ab out to fork out $100 to chrome my nuts :jesterlaugh:

I used el monte plating in el monte california and they only charge .50 a bolt and .50 a nut. I would think as long as you keep grease in the a arms they would not freeze up. And for the pegs I used anti seize on them. Idk I guess use your best judgement for yours.

Thanks for the Reference I'm in Cali,

No greasing them does not keep them from freezing up in the sleeve. The grease goes on the outside of the sleeve (between sleeve and Tubing on the arm) when you use the zerks.

I did put some grease inside the sleeve, but you have to remove the arms to press the bushing and tubing out to do this.
