Holy crap, Wachovia sucks

Recommended Posts

Well I went to check my balance today since I needed gas, and wasn't sure if I had enough money or not. I thought I might have gone over by a few bucks and got an overdraft charge, but I wasn't too concerned as I get payed tomorrow. So I get to the ATM, check my balance, and its -$184 :whoa:

So I get home, check my account online, and they decided to arrange my charges so that I got charged 2 overdraft fees, the first one for $150. What the fuck? I checked over all the stuff I signed, and the fee is not variable, its $30.

Moral of the story, don't bank with Wachovia.

That has to be a rare case. They have their shit in order over here in CT.

They are the best people to get a loan if you have you're business, personal savings and checking accounts with. They are the 1# investment bank in the country as far as gains.

One thing with Wachovia is you have to keep you're accounts fat.Overdrafts don't look good in their eyes.

Peoples and Webster are more forgiving.

So what if overdrafts don't look good in their eyes. An overdraft is them going ahead and covering your transaction when you don't have the money, and then they charge you a fee for the "service". I would rather them just reject my card in the first place and stop trying to do me favors. As far as them being the #1 bank in whatever, thats just cuz they're huge. As far as customer satisfaction goes, I don't know who they pay for those surveys, but they definitely aren't trying to help out the little guys at all.

I went by the bank today, and he showed me some voodoo on his computer on how basically the online banking is completely wrong. They actually arranged all my charges so they could charge me 5 overdrafts, instead of doing it like they told me online where I would have had only 1. Fucking assholes.

I've had that exact same shit happen to me too, long time ago...I've made sure I keep a good balance in there since.

My bank arranged the last 3 transactions I had so they could whack me with three overdrafts....if they had posted the transactions in the proper order, like it should have been, I would have only had one fee, like your case. banghead

I work for a bank, and I'll tell you now...all they care about is how much money they can make off of you, regardless if it's "right or wrong".

I'm with you though, deny my card, don't let it go through, and save me the hassle of having to pay a whopping fee for something that only costs a few bucks in the first place. I have way too much going on in life to count every nickel and dime I make to be sure I don't overdraw on my account :shootself:

Another bank "scam" to watch out for is Overdraft Protection.

I have a Bank of America credit card which is a lousy high-interest account I never use, just so I can have overdraft protection on my checking account.

Go to the ATM, take out, say $100, not realizing that you only have $90 in the account. The bank then transfers money from the credit card account to cover the overdaft, and charges you a $10, $20 or $30 dollar service charge.

Doesn't it make more sense to just disallow the withdrawal transaction since you don't have the money in the account?

But the bank wouldn't make any money off that common sense solution, they'd rather penalize their customer for not keeping track of his account balance.

Banks will never ever lose.

Quick story- I know this guy in the Greenwich area that buy mortgages out from under people. If he likes the house you live in he will check up on you to see if there is any turbulence in you're payments,if in probate it make his job easier. He will approach the bank holding the property and offer them a much larger sum than what the owner owes, making it irresistable to the bank. The bank agrees.

Now that he owns you're ass and you have to pay him to live in you're house he somehow alters the contract so you breach the payment agreement, takes you to court and takes you're house from under you.

The bitch is it's all done lawfully.Real nice guy, aye?

They did that to me one time (bank of america)... Went over like .35$... Well the problem is my card charged me 33$ A DAY for everyday I went over.... I didn't even check up on that card for like 2 weeks since I wasn't using it... = 14 days of 33$ charges :bolt: ....

Lets see if I can remember how to work a story problem.

14 days of $33 is how much?

14 x $33 = $462.00

That sucks.

My dad always says "HOW DO THOSE PEOPLE SLEEP AT NIGHT?!?!" Then he laughs and says "Probably better than I do."

the problem isnt wachovia or any bank. the problem is you people spending too much money and having too little reserve in youre accounts.

you should awalys keep atleast 2000 in youre checking/atm account. i prefer to keep 10,000 but i would say 2000 is the minimum. the reason for this is unforseen circumstances which could eat up a large sum of money quickly, like getting stranded 500 miles from home because youre car blew its transmission out on the interstate. another example, ,a few weeks ago i got a deal on a brand new banshee i couldnt refuse. i got it for $5500 out the door. tax ,registration, dealer prep fee and title all included for $5500. i wnt down to my bank and withdrew $5500 from my checking account and went and paid the dealer and took my new banshee home.

Yeah well it must be nice to have money. Some of us don't make that kind of money to just keep $1000 sitting there. First comes gas, food and bills, and IF there is anything left after that, oh wait, there isn't.

Tell you what, since you have so much, why don't you give me some money.

he's right, you should always have at least six months worth of bill money in an account all the time. so incase anything happens, you or your spouse loses their job etc, you know you have enough money to pay whatever bills you have for six months. its not about being rich or how much you make, its what you do with it.

pay yourself first, take out a certain amount or percent of each paycheck and stick it in a savings account. just get used to doing that before you spend it on anything else, and youd be surprised how fast your savings grow. everyone has room to cut some spendning. usually you wont even miss it. coffee every morning, lunch out every day, cigaretts, all really adds up.

no you are right if you can't afford to have things don't buy them.I learned the hard way. now I have alot, you have to sacrifice in the beginning then you what you can afford not what you can't.

I have 4 bank accounts.. I wish I could afford to keep 1000$ in each one.. It's easy to say "if you have the money.. don't buy it" this topic isn't about that.. It's about the bank staggering the purchases to were it makes you over-draft.. Like.. they stalled payment on my card for 3 days (I payed debit so it should have been charged instantly) just so they could get me for an over-draft fee....
