Walleye
Is it safe to polish the combusion dome on the head? and is it good idea to polish th exhaust ports? i know its ideal on 4 stroke, but for 2 stroke will it help? Also how about knife edge the intake part where it divides? i do that on my head of my car. I got wiseco 65mm pistons, got the balanced kit with gaskets for 200 bucks. should be getting it tomorrow or wednesday. gotta check with a local machine shop to check prices and appointment. hopefully to get it back running by friday. I also got 280 to 300 mains and 27.5 and 30 pilots. the shop told me for this kind of area, i do not need 310 or bigger. elevation is about 550 ft. just checked it out today. got a box of 10 BR8ES so it should be good enough for tuning and chopping it up to ensure proper jetting. hopefully it all goes good. I've read some threads on breaking in new top end. but im wondering what jets should i start off with for the break in. i got Klotz R50 oil, so should i run 32:1 or 40:1 for break in? any other suggestions are welcome. Justintoxicated
yea you can polish the exhaust port, my intake divide is knifed, but It looks like it takes some skill to do a good even job there. I believe most of your gains will come from porting your transfers, and enlarging the exhaust per porting specs.

There's a hell of alot more to porting than a dremel, an hour and a six pack... Mike

lowriderb
also dont listen to a shop that doesnt know your bike about the tuning of it, after you get it ported and such your going to need much bigger jets than 300's in it.. the jets for the stock carbs go up to 500.. i used to have almost every set in between too..
