Animalman294
How many of you with the cub motor's (4 mil) are running standard clutches with HD springs? I am trying to figure out if I need to go with the lock-up or just a heavy duty F.A.S.T. clutch. I put aside $2000 for a new cub motor, but am finding out this is going to nickel and dime me to death, to the tune of $3000. I shoot the hills against other people, but I don't full on drag race for competition. I do mostly duning and fast logging trails as far as riding. How are these clutches for shifting? I mean are they a pain in the a$$ at dune carving or are they worth the extra money and skip the standard clutch replacement? How do they work, maybe that would help me figure this out? Thanks for the info..............

sheefreak
Clutch fibers will last 2 to 3 times longer with one, can also run less stiff springs to save on fatigue, and lastly, you wil never get it to hook to its peak potential w/o one. lowriderb
they also work very well with an override, for fast shifting though you may have to let off the gas a little in order to get the fingers to unlock before you can pull the clutch in. ive got the same motor your looking at building.. and for mine, (drag only) a lockup was necessity.. 23champ
You could prolly run without one for a while (I did), but its gonna catch up with you real quick. I ran mine about 40 passes on the strip with a brand spankin new clutchin it before I put one on. I couldnt tell that it was slipping any by riding it. But when I installed my lockup I inspected the plates to check the condition, and it had apparently been slipping cause my steels were turning blue. Animalman294
So do you still shift like you do with a standard clutch? Sorry guys I've never been on a bike that had one, but I ask the questions because I only want to do this once.........
locogato11283
i ran the FAST clutch all last year with my 4mm cub. it held up well, but lockout is the way to go. only problem then is u might run into shifting issues...
