race-a-holic
I'm new to them too.You should have got a spring with them.If you're looking at the case from the back once you have split it,the spring is suppose to go on the shaft between the right shift fork and the case. That's what I was told. You can cruise around in first. When racing, just make sure to clutch it before you let off the gas."NEVER" down shift when you are accelerating. If I'm wrong, someone correct me please. An over-ride should help lower your e.t.'s.It will help me alot. lowriderb
it depends on the transmission, if its a 2-5 you wont need the spring, if its a 1-4 you will.. you dont want to back load the trans, meaning you dont want to engine brake the bike or it will bend or break shift forks.. blueshee03
an overide is great for drag racing once you get on to it.as lowrider said ,don,t back load the tranny by letting off the throttle with out squeezing clutch first, doing so will cause bent shift forks.however i run a 1-5 overide done by rudy kurtz and he told me its ok to back out of throttle in first gear and he also recommends backing out of throttle in fifth gear before squeezing throttle at high rpm's to prevent damage to clutch componets.never downshift the gears without stopping first.if it is a 1-? , there should be a spring with it that goes on the shaft between first gear fork and the case to keep it from jumping into gear by its self when its running.never rev the engine with clutch released as it could jump into gear without warning.due to the way the clutch is squeezed at times at higher rpm's i also recommend installing the bearing kit in the clutch to help prevent welding the clutch adjuster, ball and pushrod together.i'm speaking from experience on this because i've had these parts weld together and it aint a good thing.
