fun_on_the_sand
I need to send my top end (head and cylinder) to the shop for porting, boring and head machining. Do I need to take the engine out of the bike? or can I take the top end of the bike with the engine on it? if I need to take the engine out, is there any special cautions I need to take? or is it woth to pay extra $300 to the shop so they do all the dirty job? 1azshee
Fun, I'm here in AZ also, Which shop are you looking at using for the work? I think if your only doing the top end do it yourself. I just took my motor and had it done before this season, I had them weld the crank, fresh top end, porting and head mods. Last trip the head gasket failed and the motor overheated, took the top end apart and noticed the port work was different between cylinders, it looked like only one cylinder was ported. I wish I would of done all the work myself that way I would have been able to question the difference in the port work before the motor was put back together. 1azshee
I'm in Goodyear, I had my motor done by Charlie Ohton and would not recommend him even though I was happy with the power gains, he was a pain to work with, never had it done when he said he would. A friend of mine had a 370 log rod done by D&M it was a good motor he really liked working with Doug.

A. 490501[/snapback] Your right on the money with the Ohton thing, never again will he see a dime of my cash. Did he dodge your calls? Spend time in the hospital? DONT get me started about Charlie I could write for hours.

I've heard Kenz cycle is really good. I usually go to Richards ATV/MX on Peoria and 43 ave for all my riding needs never had any motor work done by them though AZshee
