Wallrat
FIrst and foremost this will prolly help you out on this board: Clicky That said, the shee tranny is pretty hearty. I'd check out the clutch since that's pretty easy and tends to fail long before the tranny goes.

2bzy2p
if its whining sounds like bearings to me which wouldnt be the tranny,, i would start with the clutch side first.. not the actua clutches but mainly the basket and gears your basket could have tons of slop causing wear.look for any gashes on the basket and move it back and forth and towards u and away from u! MILO
i got the same problem man my tranny is gone i was told it was the clutch but my bro looked at the plates and they were fine. I think it's the tranny 488097 there's more to the clutch than just the plates. i'd rule out everything with the clutch before going to a stealership. clutch work is relatively easy, tranny problems means splitting the cases Edited March 17, 2006 by MILO
woodro77
when you bring your banshee to the yamaha stealership for tranny work make sure you lube your ass up because they are going to fu*k you. banshee_08
Does it make the whining noise only when the clutch is let out and stops when you pull the clutch in? Mine did the same thing. I adjusted the thing ont he pressure plate and perch the whole way in. Make sure you soak your clutch or it will whine like if its dry. 488481 yes its only does it when the clutch is out and what do you mean soak it? banshee421twin
I will have my brother look at it. He can do all the work evan with the tranny but he wouldnt have time for that shit. But if it aint the tranny he will fix it for me no charge. TWIN
