Wicked98Shee
shearer inframes are gonna require some shimming and pod filters unless ya wanna cut ur airbox to hell .... im runnin the vito's fat bastard's they're supossed to be made by shearer. they will fit up with the airbox inplace without cutting it up, but be ready to shim the shit outta them. they seem to have all the bottom end my fatty's had but thats with the porting i've had done to it, and when they hit they're just plain out fuckin' violent! 23champ
most of the higher performance pipes such as Rockets, CPI, Shearer, are gonna either be VERY close to hitting something or ARE going to hit something.. Those pipes are WAY bigger than the average pipe, and there just simply isnt enough room in the banshee frame. If you dont like your pipes rubbing on your frame or head a lil, buy some Toomeys. BUT if you want something that will pump out about 10 more ponnies, buy one of the three I listed above. Toomey Banshee
Go with the CPI's. Best pipe made, IMHO.
dnomyar0
im not sure what to go with, shearer cpi or rockets... sounds like the shearers make the most power, but dont fit well the cpi's look good to me, but people say they are a second choice and rockets look good as well, looks sorta like shearers and cpi's put together, but i cant find much info on them
Big Blue
Ive had shearers and CPI's both, My shearers fit alot better than the CPI's did and I prefer the topend hit of the shearers more.
dajogejr
sounds like the shearers make the most power, but dont fit well BS...I've read just as many bat fit/bad finish about the CPIs as well. If you take a 1/2 inch worth of washers or a spacer on the left pipe hanger mount, it will clear the head no problem. The design of the RDZ/Shearer inframes is excellent, bar none. The way they go up and over the carbs and filters is top notch...no need to worry about burning your filters, fuel lines, etc. Oh, did you boys happen to notice this thread died in March..btw? Mod Banshee
I have the Rocket pipes and the Fit and finish on these pipes is real good. And I also like the power they make and they sound way Cool
TheNewGuy
i should have read down a couple posts before i started my own thread...i was worked up on not finding shit through a search lol...but i'll probably be going with rockets -- from what i understand they are hard to come by and they're are a pretty damn good pipe...i mostly dune and drag so i was in the same dillema as the person who started this post... i found a guy here in my home city w/ some rockets and i'll probably be trading him some big bore cpi's (they dont run on my bike -- lack of motor lol) just my $.
b33rs
Rockets hands down!

I'd take Shearers over Rockets hands down, any day of the week. Better fit and design...period. Also...If you don't have a ported motor don't waste your money... My stock motor'd 96 with just bolt ons ran better with my T5s than the rockets....

My stock motor'd 96 with just bolt ons ran better with my T5s than the rockets.... my motor is ported/polished...has some other amounts of work done as well -- nothing fancy...i ran t5's and wanted more top end -- went to small bore outta frame cpi's -- which ran GREAT and had to get rid of them because i lost my duning ability -- i traded for the cpi inframes (big bore) and they didnt run right (only thing i can think of is lack of motor)...so i'd be trading my CPI inframes straight across for some small bore rockets...from what i gather rockets are as comparible as CPI's when it comes to performance -- which is really what im looking for... dajogejr
You need at least a 7mil stroked big bore motor before you start talking big bore pipes. Why don't you just trade your big bore CPIs for some Small bore versions? Sorry...I don't mean to sound like a jerk...but I honestly think those Rockets aren't all they cracked up to be. I know there are some faithful rocket owners here...and that's fine... To each is own! I just think with all the problems of the previous owner, their 5 plus year old design, and the fact you can't change a spark plug or turn your gas off with them, let alone move around on the bike very much... Sorry... I'm not flying blind. I actually demo'd a set last year. Granted, it was a stock motor...but even if they performed better, their design alone turned me off. I'm average height, 6 foot, and anytime I went to move around on my quad...it felt like my knees were smacking into beer kegs under the seat.... HOT beer kegs at that... I know the faithful on here will say it's no problem changing plugs or turning off the gas...but...compared to my Shearers/RDZ or Toomey style, it's WORLDS different... Alright, I said my piece....sorry to rant. Between the previous owner's debacle...and the terrible ergos when I demo'd them...they just seem like bad news.... Justintoxicated
i got my cpi's through passion racing. the chrome on mine is real decent. i'd have to believe you could find a set with a better finish than a fatty. it's a shame all pipes can't have the fit and finish of the toomey's. you will like your cpi's performance anyway. my buddy just got a set of out of frame shearers and they hit his frame too. I sceen some of the new chrome plated Fattys and the chrome looked just as good as toomys, or my CPIs. But the old nickle plated kind require alot of work to keep them shiny! ^ Just curious, but where did you get your CPI's, prichard9966? The finish on mine isnt all that great. As a matter of fact, the chrome on the expansion chambers doesnt look any better than whats on my fatties. And the silencers, they arent all that impressive looking either. If they perform better than they look after I do all my engine stuff, I'll gladly STFU about the finish. Man you can polish those aluminum silencers right up to a reflective finish if you want to spend the time. I haven't done mine yet but I do plan to. The chrome on mine is definately better than any shearers I have sceen, and blows my nickle plated Fattys out of the water. I did hear they had a batch that had crappy chome a while back, some stores had to send them out to be re-chromed just to sell them. But i hear you about the fit of them. Although I'm not sure if regular bores would be as bad as the big bores like I have. For dunes/drag pipes I would go with CPI's, and Shearer/Grr for more of a drag pipe with a hard hit. You typicaly want smooth power for dune riding
fernando427
Are vitos fat bastards, rdz, esr made by shearer? or are shearers only sold under that name? if he does make pipes for other people are they all the same?
