aschultz91
Well here is the story. I was tightening down the bolt for my rear bumper and it snapped. So i thought it was no big deal so i drilled it out and tapped it. Well it was going fine and then i hear a snap. O shit, the tap snapped and worst of all it snapped inside the whole so im not able to grab it with plyers. Also i thought mayb i could drill it out but it seems really hard to drill. any ideas? really could use the advice. thanks
reded
Helluva predicament! Since the tap is so hard, you can sometimes break it with a punch and hammer. Try to break the sides off the tap a little at a time, it will eventually all come out. Its a tedious process and requires plenty of patience but I've had success with this method a few times. Only other option is a torch, and that could really F things up.
fastbanshee4u
You can try a dremel with a round diamond bit.
aczar
if the break isnt clean try hitting it with a flattip and a hammer to try and back it out till you can grab it with pilers.

MILO
i've cut or chiseled a slot into it before and twisted it out with a flat screwdriver. you may need a crescent wrench or something over the screwdriver to get leverage though. pimpeinkc
they make tools to get them out, go to mcmaster carr web site, or msc industrial supply co. and check them out, if that don't work, breaking it is an option due to the hardness, but it will more than likely leave some in there which will make it hard to re-tap it, if yo know what i mean.. the dremal and flat head is a good option, how deep is it in the hole, i would pm me, i dont check back every day. later eric
Shee-Male
I've taken many a broken tap out, I use a plasma cutter, the hardened metal vaporizes and you can start again.
