Wallrat
I dunno what's up w/ their site but I registered 2 days ago and still haven't been approved. I think the only viable solution is gonna be some form of peer pressure. If these residents can start snapping pictures of the guys that are being dicks, then forward these pictures to us riders, we can identify the machine and post said pictures on the appropriate forum(s). They've already been posting em at the local shops. Hopefully enough people will see the picture and eventually word will get back to this guys' buddies who'll tell him to knock it off. Okay...perfect world. My other idea involves midgets and chainsaws... Actually I wanted to hook up w/ some of these folks so I can head out there and see the area in question myself. I have this idea...if the area is pretty large maybe it would be possible to designate a small portion way in the distance as 'legal' riding, and maybe give 1 access road to/from said area w/ a fairly low speed limit to keep the dust down for the residents. I dunno, just thinking that maybe some of the riders would be more willing to listen if the residents showed willingness to negotiate. BilDaKid
That's a good idea, but.......i doubt they'll be willing to conceed. And if I were in there shoes, it'd be a cold day in hell before i'd let any of them Mother F&$*# ride on my land. I know that's probably not the best solution, but if somebody had been giving me shit on my own land.........I think they should have the right to shoot them bastards. That's the way it used to be, somebody trespasses, you tell them to leave, they don't, they get shot. End of story. I do enjoy Wallrat's posts just so I can look at his stripping avatar. Wallrat
Dammit here I am being witty and insightful and she gets all the props. I think you might be onto something. Instead of stricter laws, heavier fines, etc. which all rely on overworked police to work even harder, why not make it legal to shoot bb guns at illegal OHV riders? I know I wouldn't ride 100 feet from a firing line of houses filled w/ itchy trigger fingers!
BilDaKid
when I was a kid, we used to have bb gun wars. There was always that one asshole who'd pump is gun up 30 times. Hurts like a bitch. But really, nobody reads your posts, they just stare at her bending over and slipping that skirt off.
Ducman
Okay...perfect world. My other idea involves midgets and chainsaws... 480647 Let me guess, the midget hides in the brush with the chain saw and slices their leg off at the knee when they ride by! At first glance this guy is a wacko enviro nazi, and I'm sure to some degree he is, but if this is happening on private property well out side the OHV then he has every right to be pissed. Although It does piss me off when stupid people build a house right on the border of a riding area and then complain about the riding thats going on. Thats like moving in next door to a fraternity in a college town and getting pissed and making a noise complaints because you can hear party noises comming next door every Friday night. I understand property owners and their rights completely. Mainly I have when the enviro nazis shut down parts of riding areas that have nothing to do with private property. For instance, Winchester Bay Or, they shut down the area in front of the Lighthouse and the area to the North of the top of Banshee hill, no big loss really, but still pisses me off. Also they should open at least 2 more square miles of open dune area to the south, but they never will due to environmental reasons that are total BS. bansheeman1974
I have to agree with wallrat. I just dropped $375k on a piece of property. I spent all winter this year chasing off 3 dudes on Banshees. After explaining the concept of "private property" and "personal injury liability", and the fact that I own quads and understand the need to ride, but all the while begging them all to find a more appropriate place to ride, I was called a "dick", I was told to "watch my back, 'cause I was gonna get fucked up" among other threats. SO, I lazer leveled the property, installed six foot block walls and plastered the place with more "no trespass"signs.( all the ones I put up before this were torn down) Yesterday, I recieved a complaint letter and a code ticket for " explicit graffitti" Turns out, according to my new block wall, I am a *****, I'm in the KKK, and am affiliated with some sort of gang, because I have the letters "QCL" in 6 different places. I have 60 days to paint over the graffitti before I get a $500 fine and a few days in the klink. I suspect the people who did the damage called in the complaint. I have really lost alot of passion for the sport since having to deal with this, and I'm sorry to say, I agree the OHV crowd in large part is out of control. It's only a matter of time, now. Jackasses will destroy the sport for the rest of us. Come and try it on my personal property, you god damn punk. I am tired of all you "fuckit" attitude types. Grow the hell up and post somthing worth reading, rookie. IT"S PEOPLE LIKE YOU......... 480345 Ill take back what i said about roosting there asses just couse i am not that type of person ,But the guys that goes out and hugs the trees and have nothing better to do but cry about us riding in a place that is legal, yes there assholes but for the guys that are disrespecting some ones home they need to be handled, I also live in a nice subdivision, and i would not like it if the quads where ripping up and down the street, just pass down the street with some respect then i would not have a problem. Also i been on this sit a long time (1998) i just did not post much and i lost my info for getting on it so as for the rookie thing i dont think so.hope this is beater then the first thing i said did not mean to piss anyboudy off . ehamburg
I am the webmaster for the Community ORV Watch Site and a member of the organization. I am not "Eric Norman Hamburg" as "assumed" by one of the previous posters. I am not "One man possibly on a political rant to make a name for himself after a probably failed legal career". I belong to a group of hundreds of long time residents in the Morongo Basin who suffer from abuse, trespass and harassment constantly. Many law-abiding people, including ORV enthusiasts riders, are fed up with the illegal riders. Last President's Birthday weekend, illegal riding caused permanent damage in officially designated wilderness areas right next to wilderness boundary signs as if to say "I will ride wherever I want" irregardless of the law. Hundreds of people in the Morongo Basin regularly report riders encroaching on their private property. The local Sheriff's Department is overwhelmed with ORV trespass complaints and have asked for stricter laws to stop illegal riding. Dozens of people have reported harassment by ORV riders who ride day and night, trespass on their clearly marked land and have threatened physical violence. ORV damage causes erosion, destruction of animals and their habitat, denudes the land of vegetation and forces down property values. This is not just a problem, but an epidemic. We are trying to stop the abuse through cooperation with local law enforcement, a new ordinance that will give law enforcement the tools they need. We have been working with representatives from the ORV industry who are as concerned as we are about those who are riding illegally and irresponsibly since it makes people want to outlaw all ORV activity. The poster Wallrat has is right on his read of what we are trying to do (thanks Wallrat!) so please re-read his post. Thanks for listening. PUSH THE THROTTLE
Thanks for listening. 480687 Thanks for posting. It's good to get your point of view so that we aren't all jumping to conclusions. If people like you work with the OHV guys and not against them I think things will work alot better in the future. I commend your efforts.
BilDaKid
thanks for showing up on the post hamburg. I agree that we all need to work together on these issues. I hope you find the guys who disrespected your place. Just realize we're not all like those guys, just like we're starting to see that you're not like the crazy liberals who want to shut down all ORV sites. If you send us pictures of guys doing stupid crap, I'm pretty sure allot of guys would love to put these assholes in there place. So good luck. Too Many Toys
My question is are these kids or adults riding around carelessly? If they are kids then maybe a visit to their parents is in order. If they are adults then I think like others have posted, maybe get some pictures of these guys and send it to the police and also to other ATV enthusiasts and their forums. That way we can get the word out and stop people from trespassing and vandalizing private property. Nobody on this website agrees with this type of riding. That leads me to believe that they are just young kids on their RM80's and such. They really don't understand the consequences and repercussions of their actions. BilDaKid
That's a good point. However, the picture on their website is an adult. God know's I was a little shit growing up. I hope this guy wouldn't have went this far if it's just a bunch of kids being dumb. ehamburg? what's the case?
PUSH THE THROTTLE
No matter what the age is it isn't right or an acceptable excuse, but as said above you would hope that locating the kids parents would take care of the problem in a hurry, then again with todays kids you never know. ehamburg
The vast majority of abusive riders in the Morongo Basin, including the guy who is on the picture on our home page who assaulted a property owner, are adults.
