wade30
I'm gonna take off the stock clutch perch of my 87 shee and get rid of the parking brake. I was wondering if there are any special steps to doing this, and also if i could get some recommendations on some clutch perches to replace it with. Thanks
hittintrees srh
ya dont really need to replace your stock perch- i took my parking brake off and it's still fine just remove all the wiring, linkage and other nonsence. just my .
NYUK
i always just buy the yz 250 perches and levers. they are cheap and break less than them shorty adjustable ones.
MILO
i got out the grinder and took off the parking brake bracket part of the perch. it's ground down flat and looks just like a regular perch. a little black paint to cover up the grinding marks and a little time was all i had in it. here's a pic Edited February 27, 2006 by MILO
Bansh88
Clutch perch will clean up the mess of the parking brkae. I have a "Sun Line"? I think. Motion Pro makes them too. Get whatever they have in stock. I went with black. Don't waste your money on the "parking brake block off". That has to be THE biggest, most pointless waste of money for a bike. wade30
thanks guys. I was wondering about the block off but i guess the general consensus is it's a waste. I like the grinding idea too! perches aren't too expensive though right? 15 or 20 dollars?
Bansh88
Not even $15. Kinda ghetto leaving the carcass on there. Though I did it for 2 seasons.
MILO
the block off plate is only $10 too. sure looks alot better than having the clunk of junk left on there. less shit to work around when messing with the brakes too. and i'm sure the weight reduction is pretty signicant as well
reded
The late model YZ250 lever and perch work great, plus its got the cool quick adjust system. It actually looks like it belongs on the banshee, instead of that clump of shit that Yamaha puts on from the factory.

Something always looks better knowing you created yourself. I'm having a hard time understanding the purpose of the electrical plug you removed from the perch. How to remove or where does the other end remove from? Does it affect your performance?

I guess if you don't want a clean look to your ride, you could leave the sweet looking brake linkage on, and go spend the $10 on a latte. :yelrotflmao:
Bansh88
If anything, the block off looks WORSE. All it does is put a big shiny chunk of metal over a smooth black piece. All the block off does is attract attention.

Bansh88
I have a couple pics in this thread. If you want minimal junk on your bike (like taking off the brake) why put a block on? Looks better as is. My opinion of course. A lot of guys like ghetto fabulous I guess. http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?...c=46487&hl=
DOTD
Oh yeah you're right that looks waaayyy cleaner than my shiny piece of metal. :thumb: have you thought of removing that attention grabbing chrome from your pipes too. :baseball_w00t: Edited September 4, 2006 by DOTD
