just bought a new 06 banshee...it will be ridden in the sand dunes 100% of the time. i am gonna do a few minor mods...pipes/jets...

what should i do for the best break--in? should i break it in right away with the pipes/jets on it? also i'll need to have the spark arrestor....so can someone suggestions for what pipes/jets, paddles, etc... that would work best for my situation. i apprectiate anyones help on this as i am clueless

it would only be ridden at the silver lake sand dunes in michigan. i am interested in finding a set of pipes that will give me a little more power, but i dont want it to interfere with reliability. also dont want to be a constant rebuilding project.

as far as riding experience...this would be my first quad. grew up riding dirt bikes and 3 wheelers...never had to deal with the initial break-in with anything i had. then got a sand rail and played with that for several years...until last year i rode a friends quad up in the dunes and have been hooked since. i have owned several fast street bikes. so i should be able to handle a semi-stock banshee.

just not sure about breaking in a 2-stroke? and really have no clue as to what pipes/jets i should run for the power/reliability i am wanting. also what brand and size paddles?

any info would be a big help. i've always been a fan of the banshee and didn't want to just buy a 450 like everyone else is...thanks alot

the census seems to be sandstars (v blade) or 8 paddle haulers (straight blade). i'm gonna try sandstars all around for opening week at silver lake. i like 20" tires on 10" wheels. V blades are supposed to be for sliding carving, etc. straight for more bite. From what i've read doesn't really matter which cause if you use a 10" rim you're gonna slide.

DON'T BUY CHEAP TIRES. i ran geckos (21-10-11) last season cause i needed paddles quick. now i'm replacing them with sandstars (20-10-11) with sandstar fronts. I don't drag at all so v-blades seemed the way to go. the geckos will most likely be cut up and used as new seat bushings etc.

as for pipes i just got some pro circuits with spark arrested silencers. gonna find out how they do at silver lake again on opening weekend. i definately like them so far though. just watch here for some nice used pipes. i buy most of my parts off this site and some off ebay too. unless you're building a show bike, i'd suggest used aftermarket parts.

as for break in, i'd put some hours on it before romping around the dunes.

newbie to newbie, i hope this helps.

The Pro Circuits are good pipes but if you can find a set of T5s I would probably get them. They ran great for me and I have several friends that have been really happy with theirs as well. But if you find a good deal on the PC they are good pipes to. Definatly the next in line I would recomend. As for the tires I have to agree with 1000 all the way. The two he recomended is what I had in mind. I ran the 8paddle haulers for the last couple years and have been happy with them. Hope this helps and welcome to the HQ

T5's are great pipes, but you need the additional hush kit or bolt on "sparkys" to make em legal. Pro Circuit and FMF seem to have the best spark arrested pipes out there. PC's are a tad better quallity-wise. Any mod you find that you think you might want try searching for on here. If you still have some questions then ask away. That's the best way to save yourself money.

I ride sand 100% of the time as well. I got my 06 last season from ALBA and it came pipe and jetted with T5's and K&N, my brother rides pro circuits with K&N, which he thinks is better. So far I'v never lost to him up any hill, but I'm also only 135lbs. For paddles I ride sandstars. With that set up my bike runs great and I

When my 2004 was stock, I went to FMF Fattys with turbine core 2's, tors removed, K&N pods, and droped to a 13 tooth sprocket on the front. Had tons of low & mid range, and you will not get hassled for sound. Went with 20X20X10 8 paddle Haulers. It is a dune only bike ridden at sea level!

Hope this helps

pipes filter and jets will get the fever going. also get the proflow filter adaptor.

fattys are pretty smooth power easy to ride, I also read the same about pt mids, there pricey and ugly but have a good finish. finish is poor to fair on the fattys. I love my t-6s. Personnally I would pick the t-6 or t-5. good all around pipe that sounds and looks great.

scat-trac edge hook good for a v paddle, I personally like the striaght paddle extreme. both worked great at silver lake.
