BlackBanshee50
Well...Im making the plunge. Im getting it in may or june. I know the banshees have been the same for the last however many years but I prefer to buy new. It just seems to save me alot of headaches. Id like to know a little bit more about them. I always hear they break down alot. How true is this and what is the usual cause? What should I do to keep my banshee running good? What is the best thing to upgrade first? What does your normal maintenance consist of? Sorry about all the questions. Just curious.
korndawg
The first three things you will want to buy for your banshee, in this order: 1. Clymer manual-this will answer pretty much all of your maintainance questions 2. A good set of pipes and some jets-This is a must have. The stock banshee pipes are worthless. Also, you're going to need to rejet pretty much anytime you change anything that effects how much fuel and air you are moving thru the motor, such as changing pipes. 3. A box of kleenex-So all those guys riding four pokes will have something to dry their tears with after you're done kicking their asses. Banshees do require a good deal of maintanance. The best thing you can do, is to figure out how to do it yourself. If you've got a friend that knows how to work on them, see if they can help you out, or feel free to ask questions on here. They really aren't very hard to work on for the most part. If you haul it to the dealership every time you need it worked on, it will end up costing you a small fortune. The only really big benefit of buying new, other than helping your credit, is the fact that you don't have to worry about how it's been used and abused in the past. If you buy a used bike, even if you have to do a complete rebuild, it should still end up being at least a couple thousand cheaper than buying a new one, and the used one should run better, because it should already have pipes and other stuff that you will eventually end up buying for a new one. You just have to watch out if you buy a used one, and make sure you're not getting screwed.

banshee tuner
Buy a new one from alba with pipes and a few other mods for the same price as stock, did not know about them until I had allready bought. albaaction.com
lonestar
The first thing you change is the stock air filter set up . Don't even run it. Go with pro-design set up. IT comes with air box adapter. This should be your first mod. good luck
Banshee~
Get an airbox adaptor and k&n filter Click Here Run good oil (for mixing with gas and tranny fluid), clean filter often, and how you ride it all effect the life of your motor. I got the nossmachine adaptor before I did anything to my banshee and tell him your a bansheehq member and you get a discount. Bansh88
If it's your first quad. Just learn to ride it. Stock is fine at first. Once you're comfortable with it, look into pipes. Toomeys are great. Banshee's have the rep of breaking down because there are SO many of them. Lots of them have been bored out, built up, modded to hell and those are the bikes that end up with problems.
BlackBanshee50
Thanks for all the advice. Im pumped. What oils do you reccomend? Does anybody have SST pipes on their shee? I have an SST on my bike and it made a very big difference but I never heard anyone mention them on their shee.
chase@miamiatv.com
stick with the brands people use , dont try to be differnt running stuff not common toomeys , fmf's , cpi ( id go with them ) , or Grand river racing inframes ( if they even make inframes ) , i run there drag pipes and i sware by them they are the best dog diggty pipes on the market ! keep her stock until ure ready to waste money... afterall isnt a banshee around 6000 out the door new ? you can get a used one and have the hole bike rebuilt for near a 1000 and have all the coolest billet n pipes allready ..... buy used , with the intent to rebuild the motor soon . my 1/2 0.02 Edited February 20, 2006 by chase@miamiatv.com
