Soon to be part of the crowd. . .

Assuming no scams involved, I will soon be a proud banshee owner.

Can't wait to see what kind of shape it is actually in.

Here it is:

Just need to get it shipped. Anyone have suggestions? Shipping masters has an option for $450. Is there a company everyone likes around this forum?

Looking forward to getting it. I'll spend a couple of days in my shop with it making sure everything is alright and cleaning it up.

I'll post again when I get it!

Back to the top. . .

I got the banshee finally. Had not been started in a while, so I drained the gas and cleaned the carbs and air filter. New spark plugs and fresh gas and it runs great.

It is not as bad as the pictures made it look. I cleaned it up and it actually looks pretty good. I washed the stickers off and ordered a new graphics kit.

Frame is nice and straight. One A-Arm is slightly bent, but it rides fine, so I will replace it when I have the money for new aftermarket A-Arms or if I run into a deal on someone's stock arms.

Only thing I have to replace right now is the front chain slider, so I ordered the UPP front slider.

All I know so far is it has FMF Gold Series Fatty pipes with Toomey Silencers, Toomey 2 into 1 air cleaner setup, White boost bottle, and Pro Designs Cool Head. Trying to decide if I want to pull down the top end and check it over. Starts on the first kick everytime and seems to run good, so I may take my chances and wait on a tear down.

Heck, for under $3000 with shipping and the parts I have bought, I just wanted something to play around with so it will work. :headbang:

Glad everything worked out for you. You should at least run a compression test on it. That will let you know if it's time to rebuild. Did the seller tell you what size domes were in the head? You could be running too high of compression for your elevation / octaine. Either way, I'd check the compression as a safety measure.

The seller did not know the dome size. He gave me the original owner's name and number, but I think I will just pull the head off tonight and check the size myself. I would like to see what the tops of the pistons look like and check to see if it has ever been bored before. . . .

Well, I am down to finishing the top end.

If you have not followed in my other topics, here is the break down:

Found out it is actually a 2002, not 2003 as owner stated.

Needed a new chain slider. Bought a UPP.

Water pump was trash. Went ahead and did a billet, new gear, bearing, and seal. Bel-Ray gear saver oil and Engine ice coolant.

Head had 17cc domes. Bought used 22 cc domes in perfect condition along with a new o-ring kit.

Jetted for high altitude. Will rejet once it is running. Plan is to start with 320 and 30.

Pistons were going to need to be replaced soon, so went ahead and bought new .020 wiseco top end kit and wrist pin bearings. Sending the cylinders to RB Racing for bore and porting.

Seems like all the bearings in the rear carrier are good, front bushing are good, etc. Not much else I see wrong with it.

Looks like I will have $3500 total invested. Maybe I paid a little too much, but at least I now know what I have.

Looks decent with a quick plastic polish and $15 worth of new graphics.

My account will not remote link, but a picture is on this page:
