A buddy of mine is going to use Vitos super stock pistons. He was told that they give around 5 hp in the mid and 8 on the top compared to stock. Anyone else try these and notice a difference?

I've been running them at .20 over for a couple of months and they add more mid to top end power, you can feel the difference but it is not 8 horsepower on stock ports. I would buy them again but never beleive an advertisement on hp numbers.

i would use a regular set of pistons over these and save up your pennies for port work, instead of this simulated port work that the lowered piston crown will give you..

My top end guy told me Vitos were just modified Wiseco's.

I use Pro-X. They are my first set...so we will see. I had a set of wiseco pro-lites to put in and my mechanic talked me out of it.

He's a hard core metal head, so I listened to what he had to say. Basically nothing compares to stock, right? and pro-x have to abide by stock standards. moreover, they take it one step further and solidifies those number...moreso than stock...because of the industry standards.

who knows...i just try to take extra care of her so I never have to find out that my pistons took a shit.

the vito's pistons are just modified wiesco's but i wouldnt run the if they were given to me..

the pro x pistons and namura pistons are cast just like stock so after a little while i would start checking them for skirts to be missing like the stockers do..

i havent had a set of wiseco prolites fail on me yet..

Well he got the vitos pistons put in and it made a difference. He has an 03 LE with some aftermarket reeds, clamp ons, fatties, timing plate at +4, shaved head, and he polished the exhaust ports. I have the same mods but T6 pipes, stock reeds, noss head with 20 cc domes, and I dont have my exhaust polished. In a 300 ft race we are pretty even. If we go longer maybe 600ft , he pulls away by 3-4 quads. I dont know if the pistons helped that much or if it was the polishing, reeds, and pistons all together. He also uses 21 tall 6 paddle haulers to my 22 tall 8 paddle haulers.

now for comparison sake between you and your buddy, get port work on your bike and go back and compare the two.. see which one would be more worth it to you..

I plan on getting porting. Right now mine still runs really good and I am having no problems. I want to port it, just want to wait till maybe I start to loose some compression. Plus, I am buying a house, just got married, and I am rebuilding my old 1977 Chevy Silverado from the frame up so all my money is elsewhere right now. One day i'll get it ported or buy the cubs and then :bolt:
