obanshee34
I have a 1999 yamaha banshee. The mods are as follows: toomey t-5's v force reeds 28mm keihin carbs pro design pro flow pro design kill switch ELECTRONIC TEMPO CONTROL??? Out of all of these mods, I think I have been having a difficult time getting it started. Usually, I need to use Carb and Choke Cleaner to get it to go, then the fuel will take it over. Its kind of beat, b/c it is a really nice machine, looks wise. I am running Yamaha 2R oil with a 93 octane.. IS THIS TOO LOW of an OCTANE? should I be running race fuel? Please let me know. I need to have it kick over with ease, so I can sell it. Getting married in August, need the loot. Thanks Sean What is with the Electronic Tempo Control? I can't find it anywhere on the net? Could this be the root of my problem? Edited February 14, 2006 by obanshee34
FlatTrackin
No you wont need higher octane fuel, 93 is fine for what you have. You only need race fuel if you have high compression, by using domes 19cc or lower, in a cool head. Did you try tearing your carbs apart and giving them a good cleaning? And make sure the reeds aren't torn and are in decent shape. That should do the trick. As for the electronic tempo control, i dunno what that is. good luck
Bansheeduner02
yeah the only thing i can think of is your carbs need a good cleaning or your rings are blown so you dont have enough compression to suck the gas into the intake ports and cylinders. try cleaning the carbs then if that doesnt work check your rings and pistons.
