PLEASE HELP BUYING SUSPENSION AND A- ARMS!

Hey guys i have a banshee with a ton of upgrades, enigne, exhusta, reeds, carbs ect. and now im wanting to uprade the suspension and a-arms or just suspension... i ride trails on the street in the snow, open dirt areas nothing serious and jumping. . i dont know what u should buy? just suspesion or do i need the +2 +1 arms? also what suspension would be affordable i dont need the best and a- arms thanks guys my price range is about 350-450 for shocks and about the same if not a lettle less for 300-400 i wanna get everything for 900 or so donthave to be the best a-arms i was lookin at Wicked they looks pretty nice how r they or the full flights thanks

whoa whoa whoa....slow the horse and buggy down for a minute. How are we suppose to know what you can afford? The only way I would tell you NOT to get +2 arms is if you're riding very tight trails. You really need to use the search on here and find out what your price range is. My recommendation would be Quicksand a-arms w/ YFZ450 shocks rebuilt for what you need. That would be in the $700 range all said and done.

you can get a descent set up for probably $1000. thats just the suspension. look up Elka shocks..

Its how many springs the shock has (triple = 3, dual = 2). They use muli-rate spring setups so there can be progression in the spring rates. On a regular preloaded shock setup, the softest spring will be compressed first when you hit something. This is happening mostly when you're on level ground, so the soft spring gives you a nice ride. You hit something harder and use up more than half the travel (or third of the travel for a triple rate), then that soft spring is compressed all the way, and the stiffer spring is now the one thats being compressed. Helps to absorb the energy of harder landings.

 

A triple rate simply divides the shock travel into thirds, with each spring taking over one portion of the travel.

 

I think works is the only company that will make a triple rate for the banshee since its such a short shock. But do to the design of the suspension, its not that bad to have a double rate. The shock is mounted close to frame, so the first part of the a-arms swing, it doesn't move the shock as much for each inch of wheel travel. As you get close to bottoming out, the a-arm levels out and starts using more shock travel for each inch of wheel travel. Its like a natural progression is already built into the design of the front end.

exactly. it deals with how the angle of the shock, in relation to its lower mount, as it approaches 90*. at 90* thats when the shock is mount effective, with the least amount of leverage on it.
