banshee223
I'm sorry about this dumb question but I recently bought a shee with 35mm pwk carbs with dial a jets on them, but when its started it won't idle. If i'm of the gas it will just die and I figured it was that the idle is set to low and I was wondering where the idle screw is on these carbs and which way to turn them to idle it up. thanks Edited February 12, 2006 by banshee223
locogato11283
should be a black knob on the side of the carb with a little spring behind it..should be very easy to see. what pilot is in it??
banshee223
It was Proquad101's shee, I think he said it had like 150's in the main but not sure and he never said what the pilot was or the needle clip, would you turn it to the right to idle it up or turn it to the left? BansheeBrian
I turned it right to idle up.If it was Proquad101's he might be able to guide you through the carb tweaks.Fire him a PM.Most important thing I found with the 35's is they like perfect carb synch.Slides might be a little low too. PassionRE
It probably has too small pilots. Jack always liked crisp hit on the bottom regardless of idle quality. You will probably need 65-68's on the pilots and a good sync on the carbs....Plus, you can pick up about 8 horses on that engine if you ditch the CPI's and install some Shearer inframes...Jim
wesw
what i remember talking to proquad on his jetting was, dgk needle, and ran that dial a jet to add fuel in the mid and what not. 60 pilot should be close depending on your elevation. banshee223
ok I will see what size pilots are in it and probably switch to a 65 or so, and when you say sync the carbs you are taking about setting the idle the same on them right.Shearer makes that much of a diffrences? If I put 65 pilots or so, would change the bottom end up at all, this shee has alot of bottom it seems like and it is making power from the time you hit the throttle to the time the pipes come in, these shee is a beast, I love it. Jim, you have built a awesome motor and I will probably have you build one for my other banshee
PassionRE
Yes, on that particular engine ,Shearers will just flat smoke CPI's, Rockets, etc. etc. on peak HP and Yes, Ive ridden that bike many times and it makes big power EVERYWHERE, regardless of the situation. The myth of not being able to have extremely hard hitting bottom end and radical top-end is just that, a myth. There is nothing that will keep up with that motor on big tracks. If you can handle it, you will totally dominate the big tracks on that ride. Better hit the bow-flex though, that bike will fatigue you beyond belief if your balls are big enough to stay on the gas .Are you in the Tulsa area?....Jim Edited February 13, 2006 by PassionRE
banshee223
nope, about 2 hours from there, I live in Coalgate, if you don't know where that is, it is about 30 min. south of Mcalester, 30 min. southeastt of Ada, and 15 min. northwest of Atoka, I've been racing up at Ada. Its a 1/8 mile track I think, I have never ridden on a track that was 1/2 mile but Jack said he laped about 7 pros on a 1/2 mile track, so far I'm loving the bike. It has really impressed me and is a big step from my other banshee, haven't raced it yet but I will be this coming Sat. up at Ada Edited February 13, 2006 by banshee223
